Sadly, I've witnessed this sort of negligence in real life; there was one occasion, in my city's downtown bus station, when a toddler of 18 months or wandered up to me and decided that I was his bestest buddy ever; none of the adults in the immediate vicinity had the air even of being associated with the kid.
I finally hoisted him up in the air and announced, "Does anybody belong to this?" Mom, who turned out to be all the way over at the opposite end of the station, glanced up from her cell phone conversation and hurried over to claim her son. Bonus points: she'd been alternating attention between the party on the line and a surrounding crowd of girlfriends--none of whom could evidently be bothered to keep an eye on the kid either. I could've walked off with him before anyone noticed!
You know the T-shirt slogan, "Eat a live bullfrog first thing every morning and nothing worse can happen to you for the rest of the day"?
Get yourself kidnapped, tortured, and forcibly hooked on drugs by a serial killer with DID, and most of life's routine hassles will fade into insignificance by comparison...
Note how the writers found a way to fit J.J.'s departure into the Arthurian meta: http://http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guinevere#Abduction_of_Guinevere
And allow me to add some of mine:
The line between the wolves and the sheepdogs can be very thin indeed--and sometimes the sheep will butt right back.
See that freaky character who belongs to that subculture the news media are in an uproar over? The respectable upstanding citizen right next to them is the UNSUB.
Trying to hide your embarrassing personal secrets from profilers is like trying to hide a fart from a bloodhound.
Yeah, this happens to me a lot, too. I just have this aura that makes kids think I'm the bestest most nicest person in the WORLD and they HAVE to talk to me! I'm always a bit apprehensive, because I've gotten some 'WTF are you doing with my KID!?' looks and I don't like being yelled at, but yeah, lots of other parents don't even seem to notice. :/
Don't get me wrong, I always loved Garcia, and I like that they're struggling to fill JJ's role, but I'm ready for them to put that struggle in the background and look at the other characters. I mean, if nothing else, how does Em feel being the only woman in the field these days? How is Reid doing without his "big sis" JJ around to keep an eye on him? JJ's leaving affected the rest of the team too.
I love Garcia, I do. But I think it all goes back to my complaints about CBS firing the girls, and the Reid-whumpage we've had in the past. This isn't the Garcia show or the Reid show or even the Hotch show. It's an ensemble, and I'm really really ready for them to focus on the rest of the ensemble. :/
