In complete agreement with you here. I don't have an opinion about Nichols, except that others were excited she was joining the show and I though, "well, okay..." and then...WAT? WAT? I had heard they were introducing a new character because new characters bring conflict (such as they did with Pretiss and Rossi), except, um, where is the conflict?
And I have to say "Don't blame the character if the writing is bad," is a poor rationale. If the writing is bad, the character is bad.
I do disagree about Reflections of Desire. It was a rip-off. It was also a-may-zing. I wish Sense memory had been nothing but 45 minutes of Prentiss stalking around her apartment with Sergio and talking to Reid on the phone. that was way more riveting than whatever was going on with the unsub.
