Reid is not my favorite, but I'm actually excited now. This sounds like an interesting plot. Seems they are doing the girlfriend thing right and not making it boring or pointless.

Yes! Exactly. It always bugged me that they left so many lose ends from season 6, and this one in particular bothered me even more because, hello, they never explained where they came from and they never explained if they went away or what.
