She's usually wallpaper for me but her comments to the coroner were pretty snippy, and well deserved.

Apparently it is indeed the case that in at least some parts of the Lone Star State, the local justice of the peace doubles as coroner, with no medical background required: https://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/sif01

I know it is true in some other states besides Texas that a medical degree is not required to be a coroner. Still, I felt bad for all Texas residents last night. Between the coroner and the deputy the folks down there came off as pretty incompetent.
