Why would it drive anyone crazy? The most important slots, status-wise, as far as opening credits goes, are the first and last slots (especially when the word "and" comes before the last spot, as it does in this case).

It's a contractual thing, like how Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz share the first spot in the credits for Bones, and like Heather Locklear remained last in the opening credits for Melrose Place, with something like "and special guest star, Heather Locklear", long after she became a series regular.

If you'll notice, when AJC and KV held the last slot in the earlier seasons opening credits, they didn't get an "and" before their name because MP was the only really big name at the beginning of the series, and he got the "starring" first place spot. Now, TG has risen in importance and visibility on the show, but JM is a bigger name, and, again, it's a contractual thing...

My main point, after this big long ramble, is that the fact that the credits end with "and Thomas Gibson" is a very good thing for him, us, and Hotch.

(hopefully I haven't spent several paragraphs telling you something you already know - if I have, I apologize!)
