How you got into the show?

How did you all get interested in Criminal Minds? Have you been watching it since the beginning? Did you have nothing else to watch and just stumbled across an episode and was hooked? What was you first episode? First impressions about the characters?

Initially, I got into the show because I was bored, but Gideon and Elle irritated me about halfway through S1 so I stopped watching.

I got back into it because I was bored again, but only because I was killing time until a repeat of CSI: NY's fourth season finale. I happened to catch the season 3 CM finale (I missed the first ten minutes) and immediately fell in love with Prentiss, and then Reid delighted me as he never had before. And it ended on a cliffhanger, so the next week I tuned in an hour before CSI: NY to find out what happened, and the rest is history. I've been a loyal viewer ever since.

A friend got me into the show from a silly conversation about Reid's sweaters compared to Chase's on House sweaters. Then she suggested I watch it because I liked procedural dramas and the rest was history.

I have to thank my fiance' Robert for introducing me to the show. I was over his house one Wednesday night, and he and his mom were all like, CRIMINAL MINDS IS ON! The first episode we watched together was the Fisher part one and I think I was hooked from there. Its been tradition that we have to watch it together, and for big episodes, I make a Criminal Minds Trail Mix (complete with lucky charms for our team).

My first impressions for the team, well I liked Garcia right off the bat because she a lot like me, a curvy girl who loves her computers. I identified a lot with Garcia in the beginning. As I got to know the rest of the team, I loved the show more and more. Everyone's relationships were interwoven and I like that sort of thing.

I started watching when the first episode aired, but have just recently caught up on all the episodes so far. I can't even remember why I stopped watching, but it was a stupid decision. :\

I have the Television Without PIty Motivator board for getting me into the show. At one point, it seemed like 99% of the motivators were Criminal Minds! LOL So, I got curious and rented season 1 from Netflix. Then, I went out and bought all 4 seasons :-)

Totally. She rubbed her love of both Chase and Reid off on me. Then I fell in love with Garcia and I never looked back lol

How lame is this - I remember seeing the preview for the first episode when it was on TV (maybe because Channel 7 plugged the hell out of it and it was burned onto my brain), but I didn't start watching until 1x04 and from then on I was hooked.

Mostly because of Thomas Gibson. :)

I've been watching from the beginning, but with occasional lapses in fidelity due to the usual suspects: work, school, life. You know how it is.

I remember watching the episode "Lucky" and being grossed out and honestly offended by the subject material---and then the next day I was like okay, CM, you managed to gross me out hardcore and that makes you super badass, because it takes a lot to disturb me. Therefore, you all have earned my respect.

Been a regular watcher ever since.

I read an SPN/CM crossover and liked the characters, so I thought I might as well try to watch the show they came from. I downloaded all the eps and started watching from ep 1 and onwards.

There was this one point in time, about 1-2 years ago when I decided to just try every evening tv series to see if I liked them, and CM was one of them.
It was then going on around late 2nd-ish season I guess (I don't remember which episode it was, but Gideon was still in the team). There's only a handful of series that I've watched from the beginning.
I don't remember my impressions, but I didn't hate anyone, that I know. :)

This is what happened to me. Last year I got in from work late-ish and my mom said, "You have to watch this show with me, it is so great." The first episode I saw was The Tribe.

I honestly do not remember. I know I didn't watch it from the beginning, but I'm pretty sure I started watching sometime during the first season. I know that Reid was my favourite character from the beginning. :-)

[identity profile] renee7931.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi all! Newbie here. The first episode I saw was Lucky. My mom's a huge fan and I just decided one day to watch it with her. Shemar Moore was my initial interest because I've always found him to be extremely hot, but my fave character upon watching was Garcia. I came across a marathon on A&E a week later and became totally hooked.

[identity profile] ladymalchav.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
A friend of mine was into the show, and she was always talking it up to me. So, when I finally got TV again I noticed it was on A&E and Ion, so I started watching.

My first ep was 'Doubt', although I think I randomly saw Tabula Rasa a couple years ago, before I really watched.

I watched the first season all the way through and lost track of it until last year? the 08/09 season. I love Reid then, still love him now! Ahh smart hot geeks! :D

My dad was watching it one night when I was hanging out with him. (Actually that's how I've gotten into a lot of my favorite shows because I've gone to hang out with him and he's watching something). It was an episode within season four, I wanna say Catching Out. Which is funny since that episode is in the general area I live.

I've been obsessed with forensic psychology for ages and basically saw an ad for it on TV and thought whut? a show about serial killers??? And started dipping in and out of it from then on.
There was an episode called, like, ride the lightning or something, that I made my mum watched and she bawled and she's been hooked ever since.

[identity profile] teenagewitch.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
I caught an episode during a marathon when I was bored. I wasn't sure that I wanted to get attached to new characters. But I watched it and I loved it.

[identity profile] cloudzrshibby.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
I am a HUGE CSI buff. Since getting into the show, I hadn't found a show that dealt with criminology that I could get into outside of it. On top of that, I have a huge interest in the psychology behind serial killers. Basically, I'd been trying to find new shows and failing at it. Then, the previews for Criminal Minds started coming on CBS before it premiered and I was like "DAD. DVR THIS." I've been hooked since the pilot.

Fairly new fan here -- I was living in California for a few years and then moved back to my hometown where I am now staying with my Mom while job searching. She had gotten into the show through reruns while I was gone and it became one of those mother-daughter things pretty quickly. The funniest thing though, and I hope that I am not alone, is that because ION and A&E so thoughtfully play the episodes out of order, I thought for awhile that Elle and Emily were the same person. Of course since I've gone from a casual viewer to a much more interested one, I've definitely grown to know that they are VERY different.

[identity profile] imadoctornotalj.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Well I first saw it when I was just a kid, like when it FIRST was ever on the air. I'm pretty sure I saw the first episode back then, but all I really remember from it was Gideon. I think I watched a couple more episodes, but there was a schedule conflict so I stopped. I watched bits and pieces for the next couple of years when I caught it on but never as a weekly ordeal.

Then this year, I fell in love with Anton Yelchin. Of course doing my creeper stalker research as I do when I become interested in any celebrity, I memorized his IMDb page, and I noticed that he was in an episode of Criminal Minds. It was just my luck that same episode was airing on tv about an hour later, so I watched it and have been obsessed with the show (and Dr. Reid) ever since.

:D

I myself was waiting to watch American Idol last year back when i actually liked the show and my dad was watching Criminal Minds. I sat with him and watched it and absolutely loved it. I love crime shows, my biggie, CSI.
Plus Reid was just adorable.
Idk which ep it was, but i started watching Criminal Minds.

And omg, yes, Anton Yelchin! <333 I still havent seen the episode he was in, but i am dying to see it. Anton Yelchin + Criminal Minds = epic squeeing.

My daughter got into it in college, and convinced me to try it because she said I'd love the "cute, nerdy genius doctor". She was right, I do! but I also love the other characters, particularly Morgan and Garcia, and I love the way the episodes are handled.

The show seems more adult than a lot of other crime schows I've seen. And I don't mean "adult" to mean "sex", I mean it to mean "on a higher intellectual level than a kids show".

I just recently picked it up a few months ago when flipping channels at midnight after Saturday Night Live went off. First episode was the one where the little girl goes missing at a mall.

I was surprised to see Thomas Gibson on there and my first reaction was like "WHOA, WHERE'S DHARMA" and then MGG came on and I was like "(500) Days of Summer guy, you're so goregous" and then came Shemar and I almost couldn't handle all the hottness and stuff but I got used to it. And I just loved everyone else, especially JJ and Garcia.
