An alternative perspective

EDIT: This is a post for people to talk about WHY THEY WILL STILL WATCH. This isn't for people to reinterate sexism, why CBS sucks, etc. Please keep that in consideration!

I want to try something, and I'm sure it might not go over well. Mods...use your powers if you feel it right. But I think we need this here.

There are some of us, while sad AJ is leaving, who aren't going to stop watching the show. We may have thought some of the protests went too far. We may be excited for the change in team chemistry. Basically, we're gonna give it a shot.

We're also afraid that however calm and articulate we are, we'll be seen as flamers or we'll be flamed. I thought this could be the post for those of us who need to get this off our chests. Need to vent in another direction.

Feel free to be anon. I'd urge nobody to slam other fans, just talk about what they hope for season 6, why they aren't going to stop watching, etc. I don't want ANYONE ON ANY SIDE to feel insulted.

Whadda ya think?

EDIT: This is a 'Why I will watch' thread, not yet another place for people to state 'why they won't watch.'

It's sexist in the way that they see the female characters as disposable - that they can just "replace" one due to budgetary reasons.

But see, I think CBS looked at who has the bigger following, and tbh I think most of the male leads have the bigger followings when it comes to CM. I myself am not trying to be sexiest (I'm a girl), but I feel that they thought what they were doing was the right thing and didn't think that all of a sudden the JJ and Prentis fans would come out of the woodwork to start a riot you know?

The only "right thing" they were trying to do is financial - it was budget cut-related, and they decided that the female characters were expendable; this is the same network that now gives Charlie Sheen two million dollars per episode of his sitcom, so the fact that they're cutting female characters from CM while giving Sheen a raise shows their feelings on the subject.

The fact that the male leads have a bigger following implies at least one of the following:

1) The male characters are better written/more interesting, which implies that the writers prefer to write male characters, ergo sexism
2) Fans prefer to watch male characters, ergo sexism
3) Execs assume most of the fanbase of the show is male and/or doesn't care about female characters, ergo sexism

3) Execs assume most of the fanbase of the show is male and/or doesn't care about female characters, ergo sexism

3b) Execs know most of the fanbase is female, but female viewers don't count. What counts in ratings is young male viewers. Sad but true fact about a sexist system.

I believe I should qualify that statement with a source (http://thehathorlegacy.com/why-women-cant-vote-with-their-dollars-in-film-and-tv/), because it sounds preposterous. But it's not.
