Season 6 News

I'm pretty sure this hasn't been posted yet, but TV Guide has some more news on next season. Mild spoilers.

Mega Buzz: Bones' TV Gig, The Good Wife's Triangle and Criminal Minds' Hostages

How will Criminal Minds resolve last season's cliff-hanger? — Marcus
ADAM:
The season premiere finds the team in what executive producer Ed Bernero calls a "rolling hostage situation," during which an unexpected member of the team will be called upon to make contact with Tim Curry's creepy killer in an unorthodox way. "The solution rests on whether or not that team member can convince this psychopath to spare the little girl he's taken," Bernero says, adding that "another team member will be affected for a long, long time by what happens."

The same article more or less on  DigitalSpy.

Does anyone else think that the other team member  is possibly JJ? I have a feeling they're going to be using the fact that she's a mother witnessing a child being taken hostage as a way to write her out of the show.

I hope she's the one that is called on to make contact. Also, idk if you meant to put this behind the cut but i didn't work.

Hmmmmm. I'm not sure that would be referring to JJ. It says "another team member will be affected for a long, long time by what happens." If it's JJ and she's written out of the show, we wouldn't see the long-term effects. I think it's more likely to be Emily, then it could be used as a reason to cut down her time on the show.

I'm looking forward to finding out, even though I'm still angry they are cutting JJ out.

Yeah, that's what I meant - they could use this as a reason to reduce her time on the show. Hopefully, if that's it, it will give her a decent story line for the season.

Ok, I'm having the feeling that the 'unexpected member of the team' is gonna be Garcia. Lets' face it, out of all of them, she would be the least expected member of the team to talk down a creepy psychopath.

As for the team member affected for a long time, my guess is that it'll be JJ or Morgan. I'm just speculating here but maybe this time the team isn't gonna be able to save the girl, that she'll end up raped and killed. As for the killer, maybe he might get away again or ends up killing himself to avoid capture. I could see how this would mentally mess up JJ as a mother or Morgan as a victim of sexual abuse and being unable to stop the killer from taking the little girl.

I would IMAGINE it would be JJ, and that the reasons she leaves is something to do with the child. Which affects her being a mother.

Uhm...doesn't anyone remember that Morgan watched Spicer get killed??? He's the most likely candidate for the one who suffers long-term from the case.

I agree with you 100%. Wouldn't be surprised at all if Morgan is the one who suffers long-term from this case.

The whole "one member of the team will be affected for a long time" thing is incredibly vague and rather pointless to say, because I think we all can agree that after last season, EVERY member of the team has been in a situation where such a statement would be applicable.

That said, the "other team member" will probably either be the one who decides who will negotiate with Crazy Man (most likely Hotch, in that situation), or the person who feels they can't talk Crazy Man down, and the responsibility is then shifted to someone else (which leads to the case becoming even more FUBAR).

Either way, JJ will almost certainly be written in as one of these two characters, and it will be her reason for leaving the program. I don't have any reason to believe that the writers would drop the ball so terribly as to not use such a perfect setup for her departure.

I say JJ and Derek Morgan are the teams members involved/infected

add Emily to the list

I think Emily will be the one that's bothered by it.

It could be any of them. I vote for Rossi, because he hasn't done shit this past season.

Word. And yet JJ and Prentiss were cut and cut down. Pfft. I mean, if it's the girls or Hotch I pick Hotch... but not Dave. Love him, but not more than Em and JJ.
