I have a question about season 5 that I am going to put behind cut just in case some people might not be all caught up.
I'm re watching season 5 since I just got it for my birthday and I thought I just might have missed it, but do they ever officially mention that Hotch is back to being team leader? I know that they made a big deal about Morgan being the leader, but I do not remember them giving it back to Hotch. Did they just go back to how things are and never mentioned it or did I just miss it? Thanks!!

I don't specifically remember them giving the position back to Hotch, I think it's implied. Not sure, though. Anyone else know for sure?

I don't think it's ever really mentioned, but we see him taking on the responsibility again and he's definitely in charge when we get to "The Fight" (the horrible spin-off episode).

It is not mentioned specifically but it is implied

What everyone else says. There is no onscreen scene where he's officially given the position back - he just starts doing it again. Given both Morgan's concerns about Hotch, and his reservations in taking leadership from him, I think it's safe to assume that Morgan was more than willing to give it back, and no longer thinks Hotch is going to commit suicide by BAU.

If there isn't a missing scene fic for this, someone quick! Go write one.

I thought there was a scene where Hotch is in Morgan's office and they have a convo (of what, I cannot remember, I so fail) and Morgan offers to help Hotch with the paperwork sometimes? And the implication was that Hotch was back in charge, but Morgan's not wanting him to have to do it all alone because he knows- oh, that's right, he was talking about how he understood how much responsibility came with the position or something and he wanted to help Hotch out if he needed it? Or something?

Did I hallucinate this? Was it all a dream?

That's in Retaliation, at the end. Morgan says he had a single parent, he understands sometimes that Hotch needs to go home to Jack.

Right, so was that about the time of Hotch being unofficially reinstated as leader? Because if that's what I semi-not-really-remember, then I took that scene to indicate that Hotch was back in charge, but Morgan was there to provide backup so he could spend more time with Jack....y/n? I'm SO CONFUUUSED. Did it have anything to do with the leadership issues? I think so, otherwise why would Hotch be doing paperwork, 'coz that would be the leader's job, yes? *frets*

All of the team members have paperwork, not just Hotch. He is the leader again, I believe that episode says it without saying it. Morgan offered to help because he was telling Hotch he doesnt have to do everything, they can all help. He has a child to go home to and its OK to spread the hard stuff around and not take everything on himself just because he's the leader and thinks he has to.

That was my impression anyway.

I think its mentioned in Retaliation. Not that he's back as Unit Chief but that he's back on the job....Rossi mentions it. So I figure that means he's back as Unit Chief after his leave of absence in Slave to Duty.
