"Lauren" Question

I just finished watching "Lauren" - I know lol but I wasn't able to watch it yesterday and my DVR only "partially" recorded it *rolls eyes*.

Since this may contain spoilers for this episode and possibly a past episode from season....2 or 3 maybe, please look under the cut for my question.

I considered looking through the post that was focused on this episode, but there are 631 comments lol and I'm not sure I have that kind of patients.

In "Lauren" they mention numerous times the fact that the only family Emily had was the team. Then, at Emily's funeral, the only people who were the main focus was the team and you really couldn't tell who anyone else was.

So, my question is what's up with Emily's mom? I know we met her in that episode about the Russian family. Even if Emily isn't really dead, wouldn't it be kind of weird if her mom wasn't at the "funeral"? Did something happen to her mom that I'm forgetting or didn't know about?

Just wondering if anyone noticed this and could tell me if I'm just being stupid and forgetting something.

Me neither, but in films or series when there's a funeral, you often see the family on the right, below, sitting, with mom with her legs sideways as if to huddle close with someone next to them - I thought I spotted a quick glimpse of that ;)

You know, she may be "duty first". Some people are like that ... it doesn't strike me as terribly strange.

Most funerals provide chairs for the immediate family if the graveside service may take some time. CM isn't known for their consistency when it comes to family so, like everyone else, I just assume they meant for us to assume the ambassador was there and simply not seen.
