I saw the promo during last night's episode and was encouraged by it. Personally, I'm not a fan of the Doyle/Emily is dead story line -- it reminds me too much of a daytime soap opera plot device. (And I was aggravated by the season 6 casting issues that led to it. Why do networks have to ruin a good thing? I can't stand "reality" shows, so there are very few shows left that I feel are worth watching anyway.)
Because of the Doyle story line, I've felt that Criminal Minds was close to "jumping the shark" ... it was at least standing on the shore contemplating putting on the skis. For me, the deciding factor whether or not it could save itself would be how it resolved that storyline. The fact that they do it in the first episode (and don't drag it out) and this promo give me hope that my beloved Criminal Minds will redeem itself.
I understand wanting to give Paget Brewster a way back in and I'm glad of it (I like her and her character), but that could be achieved in a more subtle, less cliche, way.
I'm getting excited now. Been a long time since I looked this much forward to a CM episode. I'm just happy it's coming back. Before s6 everything was just a mess and I kept dreading how they would write JJ and Prentiss out, but now I'm a lot more optimistic. And the trailer only adds to it. :)
I'm glad to see that they're putting the Doyle/Lauren storyline to bed right away - there had to be SOME story around Emily's return, but thankfully they're not dragging it out. I am muchly looking forward to the Team being back together and the show getting back to the stories we all love.
I am so ridiculously excited for this. I for one enjoyed the Doyle storyline even if I was the only one (really excited to rewatch it again when the dvd comes out on the 6th). And this looks like it will be a good ending for the storyline and the beginning of some awesome new ones.
I wonder if I would have liked the Doyle story line better myself if it were simply Emily's back story and quickly resolved, and not tied up with her fake death. And I doubt you're the only who likes it. Its just that people who complain (like me) tend to have the biggest mouths. :-) Nevertheless, we both agree that the promo has us excited about the first episode and hopefully the entire season.
It´s been a long wait, but it´ll be great! I hope. I agree with those who said they didn´t like the Doyle story. I hope they won´t drag that one out. Otherwise, can´t wait until fall! Yippee!
Encouraged

EDIT: So, I think the version by Filter might be the one in the promo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xgi0IpZTvYo).
