Question about 7x01

I just started watching Criminal Minds again after taking off for a couple of years, so I just watched 'It Takes a Village.' When Reid is being questioned by Senator Cramer, Cramer says that Reid is 'the only one who has not requested reinstatement to the unit.' And then nothing! No explanation for that at all.
In the last episode of Season 6, Hotch said they could all leave if they wanted, but nothing about having to be reinstated. Does anyone know what Cramer was taking about?

Everyone in the unit was suspended after what happened at the airport with Doyle and the others. That's why they were at the hearings and that's why they requested to be reinstated.

It was stated in the Erica Messer chat that Reid had a line that was cut. Apparently he said something about not having to be reinstated to something he never left in the first place (or something like that). I'm with you...it did seem odd not to have that explained. That is probably why she mentioned it.

Ha, I'm glad you asked this because I was never quite clear about it either.

As resolucidity said, there was a line cut. In response, I think we have to wank the Reid situation a bit. What works for me is to figure that Reid is the one who took the sabbatical over the break (JJ said she, Morgan, Rossi, and Garcia were alone on the team for however long); I imagine things got overwhelming for him, as he said in "Proof" that he'd had the urge to use again. So, when confronted with Prentiss' return, I consider that he didn't immediately request reinstated because of conflicting emotions.

I didn't follow the commentary, so I didn't know about the cut line, but I thought something similar when I first saw it - that maybe he was just so angry about the deception around Emily's "death" that he didn't ask for reinstatement while he was trying to figure out if he could work with the team still.

Gubler said the reason Reid didn't ask to be reinstated was because he didn't feel he should have to ask for something that was rightfully his. There was a line to that affect, but he (wrongly) felt Reid's attitude was enough to convey all of that.

I took that as sort of "I'll come back, but you have to ask me."

For me, at least, Reid's (excuse me - DOCTOR Reid's) attitude at the hearing was enough to make it quite plain. CM is fond of dropping things like that and leaving the viewer to put it together.
