Scared my roommate with how loud I yelled when I saw Odo.

stream?

I miss Gideon so much right now

[identity profile] gsyh.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Jason Gideon was the only one of them who was in the army right? His parallel trauma was why "Distress" was so much more moving to me than "Dorado Falls".

Though hey, for the BAU connection, there is Rossi's paternal concern for young civil servants. Then there is JJ, didn't her sister commit suicide?

Re: I miss Gideon so much right now

[identity profile] bluerosefairy.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Rossi was in the Marines, so not army, but still armed forces. There are hints in the episode, too. I absolutely love how Mantegna changed his posture around the Colonel and the recruits, standing at parade rest like they were.

We found out JJ's sister committed suicide in "Risky Business", yes.

Drawing a parallel to Reid? Smart, isolated... not aggressive, though. Although I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't have much respect for authority when he was young. Not much in the way of positive role models.

re: Reid and authority figures

[identity profile] gsyh.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
I was never a genius, d'awwwwwww, but I was the bookish kid who got bullied for it. I didn't have /faith/ in the power of authority figures to protect me, but I respected them, like, dude, my peers picked on me, but the teachers were nice to me, and it was because of the teachers that are nice to me that I was soooo bookish. When I was a kid, I figure out that authority figures were not remotely omnipotent - and I didn't blame them for it.

Reid certainly doesn't have problems with authority figures, he's comfortable that the other members of his team are alphas, but he ain't ("Compromising Positions").

Holy crap, Strauss is drinking, this is Law and Order all over again!

[identity profile] klutzy-girl.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
I had a mandatory dorm meeting and missed the first 17 minutes, and thus, have no idea what is going on.

Why are they all scratching?

Rossi is a former Marine.

BTW, since when does Morgan call her "Strauss" to her face? Seems a trifle disrespectful for an Assistant Director/Deputy Director or whatever her title is...?

I really like this episode. Not really team focused, but I like it.

[identity profile] diemme.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Where has this come from?

[identity profile] doverz.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
OMG, putting boys in a dryer. So fucking horrible.

[identity profile] diemme.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
The energy is low and draggy in this episode as well as the last one. I don't like it.

[identity profile] doverz.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
The last one was the tornado one right???

I definitely like this one a whole lot better.

Hotch is the BOSS of my heart.

[identity profile] doverz.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
This Josh kid is a BAMF and I loved the mocking salute he just have.

[identity profile] full-metal-ox.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
And boy, could he make a flip of the bird look for all the world like a salute.

Morgan getting to confront an abusive authority figure?

[identity profile] gsyh.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
You go bb!

...and the "No one will believe him, he's a troubled boy?" (not sure if I got exact words, but...)

That's probably a triggery moment for Morgan. bb needs some cuddles from Pretty Boy.

Re: Morgan getting to confront an abusive authority figure?

[identity profile] kgrier.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that confrontation was a bit of a throwback moment for me, too. I loved his "He's a grown man" reply.

[identity profile] devon-carrots.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
oh my god this was so good

Intervention!Hotch!

[identity profile] gsyh.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Awwww, poor Strauss.

Okay, Hotch is there with Morgan...where's Spencer? Ya know, the dude with the blink and you missed it drug addiction problem?

Re: Intervention!Hotch!

[identity profile] kgrier.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the only reason Morgan was there was because Hotch was offering it as an olive branch, a way of acknowledging what Morgan said and proving he could trust him.

To be honest, I'm glad they didn't rope Reid into it; I think it might have muddled the situation with Strauss. Too many cooks stirring, and what not.

[identity profile] diemme.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
This drinking thing makes no sense to me. I worry that Hotch is going to take over her job and not be in every episode.

[identity profile] doverz.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Wasn't Strauss sick a season or two ago??? It could be coming from that.

So did Morgan get Reid checked in privately for help too?! I wish they would discuss how Reid got over his addiction in these types of episodes.

A cheap way thou. I think I would of prefer cancer now.

[identity profile] silver-chipmunk.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
The school didn't seem very realistic. Seems like a real school would have a hell of a lot more faculty and administrators running around in a situation like this, not to mention a board of trustees or governors or something over the head. But all we see are the two villans and the medical person. Which is another point, wouldn't the bodies have had to be examined by an honest-to-God coroner or medical examiner, not the doctor of the school? It all seemed so self-contained.

[identity profile] tryxkittie.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
so ultimately....good, bad, or meh ep?

[identity profile] silver-chipmunk.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
My vote is for "meh". It was OK, but something wasn't there.
