As far as the headaches they spoke with Erica Messer and said that they want to finish up that storyline this season. They originally wanted to end it last season but they wanted to include Jane Lynch but they were having troubles shooting around her schedule with Glee (so I guess if you feel like it you can blame Glee). They really want to finish that storyline this year.

"They" being entertainment reporters who try and find spoilers for the fans or the fans themselves.
