Question

I'm doing a project on "AIDS in Popular Television" for my Human Rights class, and I was wondering if anyone could recall whether CM did an episode that contained HIV/AIDS as a plot device? My mind is so blank, and feel like there might have been one. If I'm wrong, please forgive me, I just want to include one of my favourite shows in the project if I can!

I know there was a CSI... New York, I believe, that had an episode about one of the investigators having an HIV scare from getting Positive blood on her.

I can't remember if there was a CM ep that had it though. Interesting paper topic, good luck with it!

The episode was season three's "Heart of Glass." Here's a link to a detailed review of the episode from CSIfiles: http://www.csifiles.com/reviews/csi/heart_of_glass.shtml.

It was a good episode, and if you wanted to watch it for yourself, I'm sure you could find it on surfthechannel.com. Hope this helps!

I don't think there was ever an episode with a HIV/AIDS plot yet...

Hmm, I'm pretty sure there aren't any CM episode involving AIDS, but it could just be that I'm distracted, because now that you've mentioned it all I can remember is House. In season 2 they treated a guy with AIDS, and Cameron was possibly infected and worried she was going to die for a while. A generally misadvised plot, I always felt.

Good luck on your project, though!

there was a Law and Order: SVU episode that dealt with HIV/AIDS, but no CM ep.

I don't recall a CM episode that involved HIV/AIDS, but (like everyone else, lol), I do have another suggestion. Ep 9 of Raising the Bar (link to the episode guide (http://www.tnt.tv/series/raisingthebar/episodeguide.jsp?seasonId=42017&episodeId=43234)) did involve HIV/AIDS. I don't know what other shows you've included, but ER had a significant HIV/AIDS storyline at one point, as did Life Goes On (older show, but definitely made an impact, espeically given that it was the early 90s and AIDS was not as commonly known then, y'know?). And Queer As Folk. Good luck with your project! <3

I can't think of a CM episode. You might (maybe possibly) be thinking of "In Heat", because the unsub picking up men and then killing them because of his own struggle against homosexuality is a reflection of Larry Eyler, who was a serial killer in the Midwest in the late 70s and early 80s (from my hometown, actually) who had the same MO. Eyler had AIDS and eventually died of it.

I don't think there was anything in CM, but if you look at Queer as Folk (US), there's a bunch to do with HIV/AIDS.

no reference to HIV or AIDS in CM, but I *know* there was one in CSI Las vegas...I can't be helpful and tell you the season or episode, but it involved the discovery of a snuff porn movie industry, and at the end they got to tell the killer that since he got the victim's blood in his eye, and the victim was HiV positive, blah blah blah revenge.

...yeah I pretty much gave up watching CSI four years ago. *g*

I don't recall any for CM, but it was the plot of the Law and Order SVU, Season 10 episode 5 ("A baby with AIDS pulls Benson and Stabler into an investigation whose rules they're not familiar with, requiring Dr. Warner to lend her expertise uncovering a clinic dealing in bogus cures and murder.") and CSI Las Vegas season 9, episode 6 ("The CSI team investigates a shooting at a Koreatown neighborhood party, in which the mother and uncle of a small boy, Park Bang, are murdered." and the boy has HIV AIDS). Both are done skillfully, and respectfully, I found.

I also can't think of any Criminal Minds episodes, but I know that House had a whole little AIDS arc, where Cameron gets infected blood coughed into her face by a patient. In relation to that, there were all sorts of "dealing with AIDS" mentions
