I'm really bummed they cut the flashback to Morgan's childhood seeing his dad get killed. IMO, that would've made this episode more worthwile. Why bother releasing that spoiler info and the cast list with 'Young Morgan' and 'Morgans Dad' if you're just going to yank it away on us, show?
Overall, I didn't love this episode (but I also kinda expected I wouldn't, so it's okay). It felt unfinished - there were a couple of things they could've explored more (the fight club, giving us a bit more on Morgan's past rather than just reiterating the same old stuff we know, etc), but they sort of dropped the ball IMO. B*tchy!cops was somewhat interesting, as this is the most hostile we've ever seen a police force towards the team, but it felt like it took forever for the team to make obvious conclusions (like that the gang shooter wasn't the real shooter). I dunno, it just felt 'off' in general.
And also - complete lack of cute one-liners or team moments (*I've been spoiled by the awesome team-ness of this season so far, so its absence was really felt*). And, of course, as it's been stated - not enough Reid ;) (...yeah, I know, season 4 has been non-stop Reid, but he's still my favourite!).
On the plus side, Hotch's shades are still as awesome as ever!
I actually liked this episode. It wasn't very exciting, but it was damn solid. I think the team knew that guy wasn't the unsub (LOVED the meaningful looks they were giving each other; they can now read each others minds :D), but they were hesitating because they needed to save the guy that was in there, and being very careful around the clearly enraged officers.
Actually, there isn't. :( According to the writer's chat last nite at CMFB, the scene was part of an earlier storyline that was cut. It was never even shot, so unless they decide to shoot it special for the S4 DVD release, no chance of us seeing it, unfortunately...
There's a sadly simple possible explanation for the omission of Officer Morgan's death: the season is the reason. Gotta squeeze in those extra jewelry and cell-phone commercials.
