Actually there are four: Eastern, Central, Mountain and Pacific. And I'm pretty sure that Hawaii and Alaska have different time zones, as well. I've lived in the Central Time zone for all of my life that I can remember. ;) CM is on at 8 for me. :D

That might work if MGG wasn't actually hurt. But he is, so that'd probably be too painful for him. :( So maybe not, since I loves MGG. ;)

I wasn't thinking actually falling. One can pretend trip on crutches pretty easy or have it off screen or blocked by a desk

There was no vest. He actually gave his vest to Hotch, and he gave Prentiss his gun. So he was completely vulnerable... stoopid FBI agents... :/

Agreed, about the Reid stuff. It kinda pisses me off. Last episode, when Reid is bleeding on the ground from a gunshot wound they all just stand there, don't even try to put pressure on the wound or anything (Morgan just grabs his gun off the ground), and then they stand around when Reid told them something happened to Hotch... um, hello!?!? Yes, we all love Hotch, but BLEEDING ON THE GROUND. Bleeding. Gunshot. ?!!?!?!! My mind, it boggles. But not in a good way...

And I TOTALLY AGREE about the way they treated Reid after Hankle. Um, even the stuff with Gideon at the very beginning of the series, PTSD is thrown around a lot. But it's not mentioned once after Reid gets tortured. Um, who wouldn't have PTSD after going through that...???? I really hate how they all treated him, like he should have been fine, or something. And yet he's supposed to be, like, the "weakest" or something... it doesn't compute. Srs.

Ugh.

/rant.

Also: I just hate how he's never had anyone he can lean on and depend on his entire life, other than himself... :'(

I know, this sit at a table and stay behind with JJ is gonna get old really fast. I mean, don't get me wrong or anything - I don't mind Reid and JJ scenes, but I need to see the boy out in the field with Hotch - thank you!!! lol.

Well, the easy answer is Reid wasn't supposed to be injured, so the writers have had to weave that storyline in subtly around the Hotch plot.

But in terms of the characters, I think the reason they're all reacting so strongly to Hotch is *because* of what happened with Reid and Henkel. The team has faced PTSD 3 times now (Gideon twice, Elle, Reid), and I think it's safe to say that they didn't handle it very well most of the time (Gideon ended up leaving, Elle shot a guy and left, and Reid developed a serious drug problem). In most of the cases, they let the teammate come back to work too early, ignored the symptoms of PTSD, and left the sufferer in question to deal with things on their own instead of confronting the problem. The fact that they're paying extra attention to Hotch now is a sign that they want to do things right this time.

And in terms of Reid's injury being ignored, you have to admit that he seems pretty upbeat about it. It's not lifethreatening, and while it's a pain, he's definitely been through worse, and I think he understands that Hotch's problems (which are ongoing, as a result of the threat to Haley/Jack) take precedence right now.

\o/ 1: "You know he'll hate the attention."

\o/ 2: Hotch's spiffy new security system and how he put on his gun before answering the door (carefully checking the peephole). And his snippyness (even with Garcia). I'm glad they're giving him a decent post-traumatic reaction and not blowing this off.
\o/ 2.5: Hotch expects Foyet to come back.

\o/ 3: Hotch refusing to move. He's still got some fight in him.

\o/ 4 and another notch in the Rape Theory belt: Emily picking him up and walking him up to his apartment, and that Hotch is letting her do it. He was raped by a man, so it makes sense he's letting Emily (a woman) fill the job Rossi normally fills as his confidant/support.

\o/ 5: Joe M.'s tone of voice saying, "she wants to." ROSSI KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED, THAR. (Possibly without Hotch even telling him; how awesome is Dave?)

\o/ 6: Morgan as the team watch-dog. It's a continuation of what he did with Gideon. Continuity squee.

\o/ 7: Spencer being all "I'm Mr. Cool" about the leg. Welcome back, honey, I haven't seen you hardly at all since S2.

\o/ 8: Garcia's cookies. I bet she gave them to him even without the yelling because Garcia? Gets It.

I didn't even think of that, but OMG. You're right.

I can't imagine Hotch allowing the nutty UNSUB to take the fall for his actions, though. He would have claimed the father charged him, or something.

Remember "A Real Rain"? Vigilantes have a hightened sense of justice and getting an innocent (which the nutty UNSUB is; he was a diagnosed psychotic off his meds) to take the fall just isn't kosher.

I think the quickness of leaving the scene was either the blood smell was getting to him (flashbacks) or he was pissed at himself for not saving the father.

*points to Reid's interaction with Prentiss in "Jones"* The team doesn't coddle Reid because not only does he not want it, but if you try he will shank you and leave you to die in a puddle of your own blood.

Metaphorically, of course.

Plus, if they actually acknowledge Reid's PTSD officially, then the dilaulid problem becomes known by the FBI.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed number 4. Oh Hotch! And Dave Rossi is awesome.

maybe im just stupid, but this is all so confusing
:P
anyhoo, tks for trying to make it clear
lol

[identity profile] parisntripfan.livejournal.com 2009-10-01 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Well he often has been the one to stay behind. But I think the real "problem" was that in this episode there wasn't really any need for Reid to use his particular set of skills. He can stay behind at the office and still contribute to the case. He just couldn't in this case because this time the focus was different.

[identity profile] gershwhen.livejournal.com 2009-10-01 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm with you there. I want my Hotch and Reid interaction -- and at this rate we're not going to get any. Plus, I would think that Reid would be a better person for Hotch to be talking to about what happened than either Morgan or Prentiss.

[identity profile] gershwhen.livejournal.com 2009-10-01 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
His tone of voice said to me, "Great, ANOTHER problem I have to deal with."

Hotch was upset/cranky/not dealing with his trauma, I get that, but it's going to be a long 6-8 episodes if he continues to snap at everyone for everything.

Exactly. And notice who it is who is saying "we have to pretend that everything is all right". Rossi. Someone who wasn't around for the Reid/Hankle aftermath or Elle. So he can try to bury his head in the sand. But the rest of the team? Not so much. They have tried in the past and it did not end well. (Elle much more the Reid given that she actually killed someone)

I really do hope they talk about Elle - even if they only do it indirectly. Because what happed to Hotch - attacked by an unsub in his apartment (I can't really say it was home because it I don't think Hotch see it has his home) is more like what happened to Elle then the PTSD suffered by Reid or Gideon.
