I can't imagine Hotch allowing the nutty UNSUB to take the fall for his actions, though. He would have claimed the father charged him, or something.

Remember "A Real Rain"? Vigilantes have a hightened sense of justice and getting an innocent (which the nutty UNSUB is; he was a diagnosed psychotic off his meds) to take the fall just isn't kosher.

I think the quickness of leaving the scene was either the blood smell was getting to him (flashbacks) or he was pissed at himself for not saving the father.

I think Hotch just stood there and didn't blink. I think he let the unsub kill his father. Or maybe he moved just a little too slow. But definitely intentional.
