Music in CM

 Hi everyone!
I´ve got a question, or maybe a topic for the discussion for you ;)

What do you think about the music in the show? Is that just me, or the musical backround has realy changed? For the better(IMHO). Anyone shares this opinion? Or do you have different one? Tell us!

I realised it when I was watching Nameless, Faceless and it´s music reminded me kind of The Dark Knight OST.  And the music used in Uncanny Valley just knocked me off my feets! Yann Tiersen´s Amelie from Montmartre came to my mind on more than one occasion(especialy the last scene!!! :-* ).

I think the music realy improved. I remember in third season(or so) it was a little distracting when the creators used to cut the theme in the middle when the scene ended, but I think it dissapeared too.
What do you think?

I'm only in Season 2 (though I'm watching the current season as well), but I really love the music. Almost every episode, I'm going to look up what music was used in the episode. Definitely one of my fave shows for music choice.

That song. You know it?! I must have... what's the full name of the song and the band?

Best. TV ending. EVAR. I always get a huge chill down my back at the end, where it's silent for that half-second and then the music kicks in full. /shudder

The song is "The Funeral" and the artist is Band of Horses, I just recently looked it up and I can't stop listening to it, one of my favorites by far!

I couldn't pass by someone wanting help with an awesome MGG icon like yours. Love his documentaries.

Downloaded the whole album but I haven't gotten a chance to go through it yet.

Appropriate MMG icon is appropriate! /mimics MGG's "score!" pose

This is sort of on topic, but does anyone know if there is a list out there of all the songs used on CM? I know there's one for House and a couple of other shows, I was just wondering about for this one. :)

Great, thank you!
(I should've thought to look there.)

Yes, I would agree the music has changed drastically. I noticed recently that in the first season (I don't know how far into it this goes, the neutral music in the background when they're investigating crime scenes and stuff is a watered-down version of the opening theme music. I find it....pretty awful, actually...it irritates me more than it probably should.

I think the background music has really improved. Ofcourse my favourite music is from Revelations but the new episode music... wow.
Does anyone actually know the name of the song in the new episode?

aww, your icon gives me the warm-fuzzies

Haha, I know the feeling :)

i don't notice the music on this show much. i'm not sure if that's good or bad. at least it's not distracting. i only notice it if it's a death metal song or something just in your face.i tend to notice music on NCIS more because it's usually blaring in Abby's lab. and the music on Cold Case is chosen to add authenticity to the time period in which the crime took place. but now that you've mentioned it, i'll start paying closer attention to the music on CM.

I like how eerie the instrumental music is.
Whenever they play songs by other artists, I generally like it too. The people who pick music for CM have good taste imo.

I think I can never again listen to Enya's "Boadicea" without thinking of that opening scene in "Ashes and Dust"...

Yes! I just watched that ep for the first time last night.

I just looked that up on youtube because I haven't seen that episode in awhile, and I got massive chills.

My mom has only watched a handful of CM episodes but she finds the music really intrusive. After she told me this I was a little hypersensitive to the music but I've since gotten over it ;)

I honestly don't notice the background music that much, which is probably a compliment to the show.

However, I do enjoy many of their actual song choices. One of the first episodes I saw (I became a fan through reruns) was "Sex, Birth & Death" which opened with "Where Is My Mind" by the Pixies. I immediately thought, okay this show is awesome.

I love the music on this show.

However, I hate when shows use heartbeats as a beat to increase tension. It creeps me out.

Also (and I think I've stated this before), I loved the scene in 100 where Hotch was clearing the house, and there was no music at all, it was just his breath and feet.

I'd heard a little of Patterson Hood before encountering "Heavy and Hanging" in season five's "Hopeless" (it's the fabulously bluesy song that Hotch, Rossi, and Prentiss Power-Walk to), and that song just convinced me to listen to more of his stuff.

Isn't there a connection from Patterson Hood to Driveby Truckers? They used Driveby Truckers music in a couple of episodes before too I think...

I haven't noticed a whole lot of changes in music, but that's probably just me. However, I do appreciate how they're willing to make bold musical choices on the show -- I don't think I've ever heard so much hard rock on a show and I think it's used really well.

As a Mark Mancina fan, I loved the first four seasons. I haven't found anything worth noting this season. :/ But I haven't been paying attention too much. I really miss the Rossi theme Mancina used.
