I really liked this cold open. It reminds me of 'True Night'. And the sibling rivalry between Reid and Garcia. "Burn that from my memory." "You asked."
Ok. So this episode is the perfect example of why I do not ship for Criminal Minds.
BECAUSE EVERYONE LOVES EACH OTHER SO MUCH I JUST COULD NOT CHOOSE WHO TO SHIP WITH WHO.
Hotch/Garcia BFF was so, so, SO excellent tonight. I love how she doesn't differentiate who she's talking to when she's pissed. "I can't even look at you right now!" GUH SO MUCH LOVE. Garcia, I totally feel you. I'd react the same way if anybody ever outed my super-secret fan fiction life. Boss or no. ;)
Also... finally a reaffirmation that Reid is indeed a sexual being! HAH. Sometimes I think he's mistaken for a robot.
Hotch in this episode was fabulous. I was a liiitle put off by how he didn't give Garcia a choice in the press conference (he doesn't usually make anyone do something they're not comfortable with), but all of his little scenes made up for it. - Noncase!chat with Garcia over the phone. - Calling Reid out on staring at hot chicks (I WILL NEVER GET OVER THIS OMG) - Being like "oh shit what did I just do" when he outed Garcia. - Jumping into the back of that car like "oh yeah I am so awesome" because he is.
I don't think it was so much that he forced her into doing the press conference as it was he knew she could do it and just needed that shove. Sometimes people need to be pushed, and that's Hotch's job. He could have been gentler with her, but they didn't have time for it. It's not like she couldn't handle it.
And he seemed so nice to that girl... Reid is able to dissociate enough that he can do the gruesome stuff like look down the throat of a dead girl with no lips. Drink! And apparently he was right about the eating them part.
I love Garcia's press briefing and her play. This was a really good episode I thought. Just high quality all around (if gruesome). And for next week: Kids! in the woods! With a scary guy! Our show makes your worst fears come true.
Wow. I'm so seriously tired of Garcia storylines now. And seriously I called the Garcia acting thing last week. It's not original. It's like making Reid from Vegas and doing magic because Gubler does. I call that lazy characterization.
*sigh* My show makes me sad this year. JJ is gone, the verve is gone, and pretty soon Prentiss will be gone too.
:/
At least I thought most of the acting was pretty good this episode. But seriously, I'm so out of love with Garcia this year. Pushing her in my face like, "Look, we kept ONE girl" is just not gonna do it.
Thanks for this. I thought it was just me. It's like they've lost their ability to be all sneaky and sly and subtle in their storytelling this season. I've loved CM like crazy since the beginning, but just not feeling it this year. However, all the Reid/Rossi scenes do make me smile. :)
The girl breaking his nose was fucking awesome! She acted that scene right out and even asked what it meant to him. Wonderful, wonderful moment for the victim, ne Survivor!
I was saddened by what he said to the little girl at the station, though. I guess I'm strange for noticing little things like that, but that particular scene stuck with me for the entire rest of the episode.
