Ok. So this episode is the perfect example of why I do not ship for Criminal Minds.
BECAUSE EVERYONE LOVES EACH OTHER SO MUCH I JUST COULD NOT CHOOSE WHO TO SHIP WITH WHO.
Hotch/Garcia BFF was so, so, SO excellent tonight. I love how she doesn't differentiate who she's talking to when she's pissed. "I can't even look at you right now!" GUH SO MUCH LOVE. Garcia, I totally feel you. I'd react the same way if anybody ever outed my super-secret fan fiction life. Boss or no. ;)
Also... finally a reaffirmation that Reid is indeed a sexual being! HAH. Sometimes I think he's mistaken for a robot.
Hotch in this episode was fabulous. I was a liiitle put off by how he didn't give Garcia a choice in the press conference (he doesn't usually make anyone do something they're not comfortable with), but all of his little scenes made up for it. - Noncase!chat with Garcia over the phone. - Calling Reid out on staring at hot chicks (I WILL NEVER GET OVER THIS OMG) - Being like "oh shit what did I just do" when he outed Garcia. - Jumping into the back of that car like "oh yeah I am so awesome" because he is.
I don't think it was so much that he forced her into doing the press conference as it was he knew she could do it and just needed that shove. Sometimes people need to be pushed, and that's Hotch's job. He could have been gentler with her, but they didn't have time for it. It's not like she couldn't handle it.
Yeah, that's what I figured (and probably should have clarified, heh). My main thought was that, since Hotch knew she was capable of acting in front of a crowd, that he could kind of push her into it.
And really, it came down to Garcia's hatred of cameras vs. a girl's life. AND usually Hotch is hesitant only when he's potentially putting a Team member's life at risk (i.e. any time Prentiss stages anything, hurr).
- Being like "oh shit what did I just do" when he outed Garcia.
I didn't see it at that so much as "I'm sorry, but we really need you do this, and I needed to remind you that can act." Or "I am sorry I am breaking my promise to you, but a girl's life is at stake and that trumps your (and everyone else's on the the teams) feelings."
In other words, he knew what he was doing. He may not have liked doing it, but at moment he felt he had no other choice.
Yeah, I can see that. Although I THINK that he may not have realized the entire team was right behind him when he said it... otherwise he wouldn't have outed her in front of everyone.
But yeah, totally. Garcia's fears do not trump the lives of innocent women! And she and Hotch both know this.
