A big bang is a challenge for writers to create long stories (15,000 words) and for artists to create works to pair with those stories. All pairings, ratings, and genres are welcome for this challenge as well as AUs, crossovers and fusions, as long as the story is centred around the characters of Criminal Minds or Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior. All types of art are welcome as well, including but not limited to traditional art, digital art, graphic art (banners, icons, manips), fan-videos, and fanmixes.

cmpromptmeme is a new community dedicated to generating more participation in the Criminal Minds fanfiction community. Every two weeks, there will be a new theme post where people can request and fill prompts pertaining to the theme, anonymously or not.

The first round’s theme is the Ladies of Criminal Minds. This round was created as a result of the lack of female-centric fic in the Criminal Minds fandom. More specifically the lack of female-centric fic that does not include the female character as one half of a ship. These characters are multidimensional and interesting! Let’s give them something else to do other than be one half of a love story.

So drop by the Round One post and leave some prompts or fill a few! There's only a 100 word minimum limit for fills, and you can reply anonymously, so don't be afraid to try something new!

All canon characters must begin with the history provided up until, and including, the finale for the show’s 2010/11 season. Characters from other crime-drama syndicates, (such as NCIS, Bones, Covert Affairs, etc.) who can realistically cross paths with our profilers, are welcome. We are accepting applications and are currently only 4 characters strong (Reid, Garcia, Morgan and Prentiss). The game will be more more of what the show doesn't give us (character driven) to include our outside of canon characters. Doors will officially open August 1st. Check us out! :)

THREE MORE DAYS LEFT TO SIGN UP!!

It's just like what it sounds...The Amazing Race, with a Criminal Minds fic twist! This is just kind of an experiment right now, to see if it works, and if people seem to enjoy it, we'll run it for the foreseeable future.

Sign ups start now and they will close on Friday at midnight, MST - on the sign up thread at cm_amazingrace. You comment with your name, email, and the pairing you would like to write. Any pairing at all is allowed, any CM character past or present - team, cop of the week, unsub - or RPF pairings; it does not have to be romantic, it can be friends, enemies, familial...whether you think they would work well together or not However, each pairing may only be claimed once - once the pairing has been claimed once, no one else can have it.

Every month, a new country will be posted and each author will be randomly assigned a variety of challenges, competitions, roadblocks, etc. You then have a month to write how your pair navigates said obstacles. There is no word limit and the order in which you post has no effect. The public will then have a chance to vote for what they think it the best/most entertaining/most realisitic/whatever fic and the fic with the most votes will be rewarded and the one with the least votes will be eliminated from the race until one winner remains. The winner will recieve eternal bragging rights and a banner announcing their victory.

Hey Criminal Minds fans!

I wanted to let you know of this community called

japan_calls that's trying to raise money and help Japan.

The objective is:

Our goal is to use the voices of admired entertainers as motivation to get others to donate to a worthy cause. We will hold open auctions for people to bid in receiving a personalized 15-second voice recording from a celebrity of their choice. (anything more/less is dependent on circumstances/willingness of the voice)

And And Kirsten Vangsness and Thomas Gibson have graciously signed up to be a part of it! The auctions start this Monday, March 28th and will last about a week. Hope to see you there!

Like to write? Love any of the shows on the CBS Network? Great! There is a new challenge, called

cbs_las, where you write a fanfic of at least 100 words every two weeks based on a different prompt and where all pairings, including slash, is allowed! Then they get voted on and the person with the least votes is out that week and the person with the most is safe the next week till you have one author standing who wins! What do you win? A snazzy graphic and a $10 GC to Amazon or Barnes & Noble. You don't even need to be a GREAT writer!
