Reid spoilers from EW
Criminal Minds scoop, please! — Rosie
There’s much more to the story about Dr. Reid’s headaches…except you won’t find out until next season, according to EP Erica Messer. “That’s something that we’re talking to Matthew [Gray Gubler] about and the writers are all trying to figure out what stories we’ve dropped. Honestly, that storyline, that whole idea behind that, started before we lost A.J. [Cook] and Paget [Brewster]. There was a chance that we were fearing to lose Matthew just because of contract negotiations, and that storyline kind of got implanted and then never truly paid off in this season, but we want to sort of conclude that next season. That’s the plan.” Thank goodness the Gubler told me he’s all set for next season and exited about it. Can you imagine a Gube-less CM? Hells to the no! This team is magic!

Selfish Gideon?
I think Gideon was suicidal, but him killing himself at his cabin wouldn't fit as much as him running away, suicide was too final, and I think he'll know what suicide would do to the team - if he does kill himself LATER...
I srsly doubt that Gideon is having a happily ever after somewhere else at all, the way that Reid might have expected (especially when compared to his dad, which even then, turns out to be a long hours guy with a sick cat who keeps everything on Reid, it's possible that Reid got his memory from his dad as well, and sometimes, so much stuff just get overwhelming, his dad ran away and kept running away with the long hours thing).
Episode one, Gideon came back from medical leave, but he still wasn't alright, and then The Fisher King busted his compartmenized sense of safety, and then Frank perverted his list of happy ending reminders by using it to off them, and Sara. Gideon has ran away from the BAU - the place where he have to stay functional, it is fridge horror for me because I just know, if he is not contacting anyone at all (like off screen), then he's off somewhere, in a very bad way, even if he's remembering to eat, he's probably having nightmares every night, away from people who would understand.
