That's a huge part of what bugged me, I think. That and Emily's last line just...seemed weird, I guess. "Does it really matter?" Um...well, I guess if you guys don't think it does, then it doesn't...?
I dunno...I'm just used to the show keeping their unsubs as human as possible, so to see the whole "real name" thing just sort of shrugged off at the end was more jarring for me than anything. But maybe that was the point: the birth name is a factor of identity, and the unsub had such a spliced identity that he didn't have a real name. I was probably just expecting something different as the last line of the episode.
I think Emily was commenting less about the importance of the UNSUB's name and more on the fact they guy was a freaking moron. He spent the episode wanting to "catch the guy," not to "put a stop to his crimes," and then acted like not knowing the unsub's real name was some kind of "outsmarting" by the unsub. Fail, Fed, you earned that Emily-putdown.
Beeeeecause he's a white collar detective desk jockey suddenly investigating a murder case with the FBI? I think that'd be enough to ramp up anyone's anxiety levels.

ETA: I really hated the last bit of this ep and I don't even know why. O.o

Hell, he probably didn't even remember it himself by the end.

Or at least that's how I saw it.
