That's exactly it, the entire spin off feels like a twelve year old's formula for a "kewl" and edgy show.
Mysterious, maverick leader who tells authority to eff off - check! Hawt, aloof, bad ass chick - check! Brilliant, snarky guy with kewl name - check! Hawt, foreign, sharp shooter/secret agent/former assassin/random edgy profession, hiding heart of gold under lines and sarcasm guy - check!
Those characters were almost caricatures they were so awful. One of the best things about the Criminal Minds cast is that underneath the intelligence and training they're just ordinary, interesting people.
