Man, this was just what they did for NCIS: Los Angeles. They did that episode of NCIS with the other team in LA, for what became the spin-off cast, just to see if people liked them. And then went forward with it. And NCIS: LA isn't that great. I've been watching it just on the off-chance that something cool would happen, but it's risen from bad to merely mediocre, with very occasional flashes of pretty cool. But it's not consistant.
One could hope that with Forrest Whitaker on board that the writing would be better for CM: Suspect Behavior. Then again, CSI: NY has the talented Gary Sinese, and that show occasionally has writing so bad my teeth hurt. Not always, but occasionally.
