Gideon (or, more specifically, Mandy Pantinkin) was the reason I avoided CM when it started here in 06, although it aired right after NCIS. I'd just never liked Jeffrey Geiger on Chicago Hope... and then I hadn't gotten into it, so I didn't watch it for years and only discovered it this fall.
