‘CRIMINAL MINDS’ RAMPING UP TO THE FINALE

The Replicator is going to rear his ugly head in the season finale of Criminal Minds, and, with a two-hour finale in store, you know it’s going to be big. Shemar Moore tells me he’s excited about the upcoming clash.

“I think the idea that there’s somebody out there who watched our every move and can imitate us and has the audacity and the boldness to reenact these crimes to make us look vulnerable, I think that’s interesting,” he says. “We are the super team, we are the heroes — we got the guns and the badges — and even though we’re saving lives, somebody’s playing us at our own game. And I think that’s pretty creative.”

The show is currently filming episode 23, the first part of the finale, titled “Brothers Hotchner,” which brings back Hotch’s (Thomas Gibson) brother Sean (Eric Johnson). “It’s a Hotch-centric episode,” previews Moore, who last week had his own shining hour. “I know it’s going to have some depth [and] we’re going to delve into Hotch’s psyche. It’s going to be an opportunity for Thomas to do his thing, and all the while we’re going to build up to the Replicator, which we’ve been teasing the audience with all season.” (Possibly related casting: Mark Hamill is set to guest star in the finale. Hmm..)

Any other spoilers known? All I know is whatever Ausiello or Matt Whatshisname said last week about Reid eventually catching a break? (Sorry, still sleeping, I might be wrong.)Last I heard they were in contracts talks. Any rumors about anyone dying?

Thanks for the tease. It will be nice to see TG stretch his acting muscles. The idea of The Replicator is very disturbing. Made more so by the fact that everyone is being targeted, unlike past eps where say Hotch or Prentiss were the exclusive targets.

Wish I knew more. I have read bits here and there. Nothing major in terms of character death or actor departure. Here's hoping the BAU family is together for at least another season.

Kirsten, Thomas, Jeanne, Shemar, AJ, and possibly Joe are all in contract renegotiations this year. MGG will need to renegotiate next year.

Interesting. An news about when everything will be finalized? I've been watching the show for five years, yet I forget if everything is usually settled in April/May or if it takes longer.

No. Most likely they've just started negotiating. Last time AJ was renegotiating, they announced her firing in June. Thomas also went to June, about a week before filming of the new season started. Shemar's new contract was announced around May. Both Kirsten and Joe seemed to have no problems as their announcements were never made (although it did later come out that Kirsten had also been hired for Suspect Behabior).
