I've started to re-watch from season 1, just because I finally have the time to do it and because I get grumpy without at least several hours of CM per day. And there's a few things that crossed my mind wich I wanted to share and/or ask.
The first thing I noted: Recently, someone made a post about Hotch's reaction to some comment that was made in the context of religion, and took that reaction as a hint to his backstory. Of course I'm not able to locate said post nor to remember which ep (it was a recent one) it referred to :-/ However, the statment was - more or less - that Hotch must have been brought up in a rather religious environment. I sort of feel like stumbling over such references all the time now :o) The most obviuos one would be his first name, of course - it could be coincidental, but then Aaron isn't the most common name. Then, in "Compulsion", there's this scene where the entire gathers in their office on the campus to follow up and they have just figured out that the anonymous caller didn't say "I'm doing it for Karen" but for "Charon" really. Hotch is the one to immediately talk about the meaning of the God of fire in Jewish and Christian religions. Of course there's also always the very obvious "Revelations" - whithout knwledge of biblical references Hotch wouldn't have been able to figure out Reid's message. Any of you note any more such hints throughout the show?
Then there's one more thing I keep wondering: At the end of "Extreme Agressor", Morgan asks Hotch about his assessment of Gideon, and he tells him "He saved your life. That's enought for me." Anyone knows what this refers to? It sure sounds like it is related to Boston, and also somehow to the effectiveness (or rather non-effectiveness) of CPR, but we never get more than that, do we?
Another thing I noticed: We all keep joking about Hotch's suit probably being glued to his body. But actually when Aaron Hotchner is introduced in the show, he's wearing jeans *g* (or at least something resembling jeans)!
And then, just two of my favourite squee moments: In "Extreme Agressor", Gideon says his "try again, fail again" line, followed by Reid, stating: "Samuel Beckett" and when Morgan replies with a quote and Gideon looks all puzzled Reid goes "Yoda" without batting an eye, as if there was no difference between these two. Gigglefit moment :o)
The other one: When "Won't Get Fooled Again" the necklace bomb is de-fused and Hotch grabs Bale as if he was going to slam him into the nearest wall, all manly and hero. Is love :o)
Sorry if I bore anyone, but I just felt like I had to get that down :o)
