Okay, so when Jordan Todd lies to someone to get information, it's OMG SO TERRIBLE BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY, and she only lied about having a sister. When Rossi lies about having an affair, it's a-okay...?
Completely different situations, though. Cops and the like, at least on television, lie and goad suspects quite often as an interrogation tactic. Jordan lied to a victim's family.
It's kind of a weird thing to get snagged on, but I really wish Rossi could've told the guy that he was lying about the fling. I know dude was the bad guy and all, but it kinda sucks that he died with the possibility of his wife cheating on his mind.
More importantly, Garcia and Reid are insanely adorable.
Is it just me, or does it sound like the show is trying to brace the fans for Hotch leaving the BAU? Is someone trying to tell us that this is Hotch's last year?
And was this the episode Shemar was working on when he got hit by the car?
Loved the Garcia/Reid competition; liked the Rossi back story .... Mob connections hmmmm!
RE: Hotch leaving, that's what I thought too. I SINCERELY hope not. I want him to stay with the team. I'm not for/against Haley, but I don't want Hotch leaving. And that's totally the vibe I got.
Plus, if Haley was having an affair, I think Hotch deserves someone better. He should be there for his son, but he doesn't need to quit his job to do it.
I REALLY miss the Hotch/Reid interaction. And I miss Reid being with the team. I may understand that they have to let MGG sit, but this is seriously screwing with the storytelling and chemistry.
"An attack against you is an attack against us." ~Rossi to Hotch.
I loved this episode. I was scared when I saw the preview originally but it turned out to be something different entirely than what I thought. I loved the group feeling to it. Reid and Garcia's banter. Hotch and Rossi's talks discussing family and the counter-surveillance on Hotch. JJ pondering what happened and Emily giving her a pat on the leg to let her know it was going to be okay.
The plot was good. Hello Bloody!JJ. At first I thought the BAU left and that the hit-man was not going to get the justice do to him. Glad it wasn't left open-ended.
And did I actually hear some continuity when Hotch said Jack is four? He was born in season 1, so that would be correct. I think I just crapped myself.
Rossi...always gives me a chuckle. Admittedly he wasn't all that funny in this one, for obvious reasons, but I like him so there ya go, haha! And I liked him doing the "all for one and one for all" as far as Hotch's "Foyet issues" go. I had no problem with him lying to the judge (you can lie to criminals to get confessions/info) or that he never recanted his claims to the judge on the affair - I was, however, very pleased he corrected himself to Hotch; I'm sure Hotch wouldn't openly judge (no pun intended) him but it's more a sign of the fact Rossi cares what Hotch thinks which is nice to see. ...I'll forgive Ross for the implied suggestion that Hotch should go back to Haley because he was emotional, remembering the love from childhood that he lost - but only this once, haha! ;-)
Hotch watching his son at the beginning was very sweet and I'm so glad that the US marshals seem to be recording and sending Hotch video footage of Jack. It's very sweet of them to do and will likely help Hotch deal with things better. ...I think it'd be nice if Hotch got to send him things (through the marshals, of course) but that's probably too much to hope for.
Garcia and Reid? Oh what a hoot! It was like a nerd battle and, well, I love nerd battles!
Poor JJ all covered in blood at the end...that could not have been fun at all. ...Nice of Emily to give the reassuring pat too.
The end was great! That Irishman taking out the hitman was very nice.
...Oh and, um, is it wrong to be annoyed by Haley even when she's not in the episode?? It's just...ugh...who goes and makes a bunch of calls after being told not to for the safety of themselves and their son?? Yes, I know, it's hard to cut off all contact to family and friends at the drop of a hat...heck I would've even let one call to mom slide but they said she made "a bunch" or something to that effect, which is more than one, and that's just stupidly dangerous of her. She could get herself, and more importantly, Jack killed doing that!
Did anyone else notice that a majority of Emily's lines were about the third victim's genitals. When I was watching it was "Genitals this, and genitals that".
++I loved the Rossi back story tonight. I love learning about our BAU. Like the fact that he was in the Marines. Wasn't Morgan in the Marines as well? Semper Fi and all that Hoo Rah stuff.
++I felt so bad for Hotch when he was watching the video feed of Jack. Sooo sadface. OH! And I know that this has probably been stated before, but don't you think it was kind of ironic that Hotch and Haley named their kid after one of the most prolific serial killers of all time? And didn't Hotch say something to Gidieon about going through the baby name book and he kept getting reminded of other serial killers?
++Garcia and Reid are the cute in this episode. I think they hang out on off weekends when Garcia isn't with Kevin...
"Arctangent" has to do with trigonometry... as far as I can tell from Wiki, it's a way of creating/measuring an inverse curve on a graph. I think? At the very least, it's an "inverse trigonometric function", and there are lots of curvy, crater-ish lines on graphs that somehow relate to it.
Needless to say, I uber-failed math, and "tan, sin(e), and cosine" is pretty much all I remember. Oh, and y=mx+b.
What better way to defeat Foyet than keep his family?
What better way for Foyet to win than Hotch leaving the BAU to get back together with Haley, when everyone will say it was really that the Reaper case broke him or burned him out?
I'm choosing to interpret Dave's comment as "you should get together with Prentiss already, that way you can have partial custody of your son and maybe have more" instead of "leave the BAU so you can get back together with Haley."
Because if Dave honestly told Hotch to get back together with a woman shrewish enough to shout, "because you always have to be the hero! Obviously a happy life isn't enough for you," and stupid enough to call her mother a bunch of times while under U.S. Marshals' protective custody, I am going to have to get my Rossi Drowning Bucket back out, clean the dust off, and use it.
Ahh, ship! I think he was saying "hold on to whatever is good in your life with both hands and don't let go". I don't think he was specific. I don't think he'd advise Hotch to get back with Haley. I doubt he still loves her like that.

Date: Oct. 8th, 2009 01:57 am (UTC)Maybe the difference is that the judge had already confessed and waived his rights so if the lie came up it wouldn't impact the investigation?
No clue.
That ending- did not see it coming. Should have, but I didn't.

lol @ obviousness of "OFFSHORE BANK TRANSFERS ONLINE" website
good to see Hotch has more control over his anger/emotions today, though flat isn't good, either... too much control = breakdown (yay PTSD)
emma = rossi's wife? mom? sister? 1958 - has to be wife/sister - different last name, though, so not sister?
reid: "Anything less than $10,000 keeps the IRS off your trail." Garcia: "I know that, too." ^_^
um, rossi, wtf?
wow, they are not holding back with the gross tonight, are they?
did the judge put himself on the list? are jj and morgan a target atm? o_O
DO NOT WANT.
*shot fired*
oh jj, honey. that's not pleasant at all. that's really gotta suck.
ohp! prentiss/jj shippers just peed themselves, haha.

JJ blood-sprayed. That shouldn't be hot but, wow.
Emily and JJ in scenes together. More yay!
An unsub (the enforcer) gets one over the BAU. Heh.
