DVD issues

criminalxmindsI just got them for Christmas, and the first disc is completely defective. As soon as I put it in the player, instead of showing the usual warnings and logos and going to the menu page, it heads right into Mayhem. If I click on the menu button during the ep it does pop up, but no matter what I click on from there, it won't play anything but Mayhem! Anyone else have this problem, or is it just my luck? I'm SO asking for a refund.
