Title: Pieces of Ourselves

Summary: "I walked into this with both eyes open. People are dying, Hotch. Young women are being killed and you know I can't turn away from that.' Working for the Justice Department was a lie she told to keep the team from worrying. JJ's been working undercover for Andi Swan; Renee's not the only FBI agent that needs to be saved. Author's Note: Going into the season six finale I didn't know anything except that JJ was going to be in the episode: I was hyper aware every time I saw blond hair. One of those times was in a scene with Renee, just the back of the head of a woman standing at a chain link fence, a woman who had been kidnapped. Obviously this wasn't JJ, but what if it was? What if working for the Justice Department was a ruse so the team didn't worry when the truth was that JJ was undercover trying to break a human trafficking ring? This idea has been simmering in my brain for awhile, and now it's a fully formed story that wants to be told. Canon until the middle of Supply and Demand. The title comes from Hotch's monologue in ...And Back when he asks "And what about my team? How many more times will they be able to look into the abyss, how many times before they won't ever recover the pieces of themselves that this job takes?"

JJ, Garcia and Prentiss At A Bar

LOL *snip*! So 221 "Open Season" was on CTV2 last night, and
1) I wonder how many "Real FBI Agents" was on the CBS board to think that excluding JJ and Prentiss from the show was ever a feasible idea.
2) When Professor Gideon was comforting the dying unsub in the end, okay, that was kinda creepy, and sensual, and I'm jealous of the unsub (or his actor) and that is so very very very wrong lol. The scene is at 38:30-39:15, 40:28 & 40:48. It is vaguely creepy as well as moment of tearjerking as well as something else.

hawk_dancing theorize that it was A Case of Transference in her fic, The Ones That Got Away (Gideon/Reid, reference to Reid's death in "Revelations").
3) The camera pulling up and away sequence that shows the top of the trees in the park - I was fully expecting to see a lot of skeletons in the trees - the uncle started the most dangerous game* tradition, and it sounded like there was No Evidence until his n00b nephews started.

*...but according to Max Brooks, of the Zombie Survival Guide, humans are actually the easiest game and nothing to brag about, "What Have I Been Doing With My Life"?

Jennifer Jareau was born in the late 1970s, and was raised in East Allegheny, Pennsylvania (a neighborhood on Pittsburgh’s north side - population 2,635). JJ grew up collecting butterflies as a child. We assume she comes from a two-parent household. She has an aunt. JJ also had an older sister, who committed suicide in the late 1980s when JJ was eleven years old. She still has the necklace her sister gave her (“Risky Business“.) She also presumably has another older sibling. In “The Boogeyman“, JJ says she has an eight-year-old niece (born in the late 1990s, after JJ’s older sister’s death.) In the same episode, JJ reveals a fear of the woods...
