warning re: hotlinking/picture theft

There is a German CM message board that is hosting stolen and hotlinked pictures.

For those who don't know, all of the pics on carinvdd's CM Fanatics blog (http://criminalmindsfanatic.blogspot.com/) were saved and posted, without permission on this board (and without credit). Many of the pictures were provided to Jill for use on her blog only; also, she asks for permission before posting pics on her blog and that takes a lot of time and energy. Fortunately, after repeated attempts at contacting the webmistress of this site, the pictures were removed. We almost lost the best CM blog out there because of this!

ETA: Jill just informed me that they still have almost 40 of her pics on the site and are refusing to take them down.

I went through the site as Jill had said she'd seen some of my stuff there, I didn't find mine, but they were hotlinking screen caps from cattylizzie's cap site--dozens of them, in the gallery alone. I did see some icons there but since I can't read German, I'm not sure if they belonged to the person who posted them. (I didn't recognise any other names.)

Using pics without permission and stealing bandwith are both big no-nos. I just figured since it's been done to a couple people already, others should be made aware. I have absolutely no use for people who do this sort of thing.

I registered on the board and immediately posted there. Those people have truly pissed me off. There are lots of comments like "This picture-thing is SO stupid" and the like. Those people just don't get what they're doing, so I told them. And I wasn't being nice to those little bloody bastards, that I tell you. I told them a major apology was in order (like in so major nothing they could say would be enough, but I didn't tell them that, of course...) and that I'd check the board tomorrow to see if there was anything else there they had stolen. Oh yeah, I used words like "theft" and "stolen" quite often, actually.

I hope everything is going to be alright with Jill's blog as well as lizzie's screencap site, though if I read correctly that one's down for now... *sigh*

Thanks for doing that! I was trying to wade through that site using babelfish's website translator. Doesn't work the best and it gave me a headache.

Jill's blog is back up but the situation isn't fully resolved.

Oh, and if they're still laughing about it tomorrow--thank them for shutting down Lizzie's site, will ya? They don't have to know it'll be back up eventually...

I already did that. The first 15 to 20 or so pages have lots and lots of pics, no sources or credits for anyone given there. There are icons, too, though I don't recognize them and they could be made by the guy/girl/thing who posted them. BUT still no word about the origins of the icons, so I'm in doubt the poster was the artist, too. I have no reaction from them yet (but it was almost 1:30pm when I posted and it's not even 10am now) but I'll keep you guys informed. Those website translators aren't any good. Just as in English, there are words in German that have different meanings and those people's grammar is so jumbled that I doubt any machine could make sense of that...

Anyway, I'm browsing through the gallery still and the last ten pages contained spam for the most part - I can't believe those people are spamming their own board, just shows how immature they are. They are some red crossed where there must have been the pics they have taken down already, there are other pics (selfmade wallpapers, MGG's modeling pics) - again, no sources, no credits.

*gasps* Oh, my god! page 34 of 43 and I found the first pic with a SOURCE given!

And now there's lots of spam again.... *growl* There are posts that say "Oh, look, from the new ep!" and then there are red crossed, so I believe they had Lizzie's screencaps there... there's one girl/guy/thing who provided the link to Jill's blog.

Oh, by the way, there was comment saying "I don't even know which pics are still from that site" (which means Jill's blog) - that say about everything, now, doesn't it? I can't believe those morons. I mean, not being able to right-click and save must give you SOME clue, right? GAH! I'm SO pissed off about them and I'm not even the one who has to sort the mess out.

I will keep you informed about what those people have to say...

Okay, I've added my post to yours, and I've PM'd an Admin, "gideon" - Ich habe einfach mal "legal belangen" und "unverzüglich entfernen" in die PM reingeworfen; mal sehen, was daraus wird.

Habe ich das richtig gesehen, daß da nur so 24 Mitglieder sind? Ich glaube, der Admin ist irgendwie 7. Klasse oder so - die Forum "Regeln" haben mehr Rechtschreibfehler, als ich zählen kann.

Du hast ja recht. Total bescheuert. Die Hälfte der Namen ist auch falsch geschrieben - Garzia usw. Ich war teilweise echt versucht zu fragen, ob ihre Eltern sie denn Sonntags tatsächlich so lange aufbleiben lassen... *g*

Oh ja, die sind schon lächerlich...

A summary for all of you guys on here: They've gotten the character names wrong - Garzia, for example - their topic names are horrible (slash instead of slash and so on) the rules of the board the admin posted are full of horrible mistakes, they crumble at first glance and basically the grammer honestly sucks. Both seraphina and me wrote a pm to the so called admin of that site - I think it should be forbidden for such a child to call herself admin... I mean she obviously doesn't know that she can be legally charged for everything that happens on her board!
