Hi all,
I just joined and I have a question, so I figured I'd introduce myself while I'm here:
Name: goddessdster, or Diana
Age: 41
Location: New Orleans
Favorite TV Show: Of all time? Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Other Shows Watched: Bones, L&O: Criminal Intent, BSG, all Trek, I'm basically a crime junky and sci-fi geek...
Favorite Quote: "Someone's opinion of you does not have to become your reality." Les Brown
Favorite Color: Red or purple, depending on my mood.
If I was a criminal, I'd be... I'd probably allow my anger at injustice in the world override my common sense and turn me into a vigilante spree killer.
The Question:
So I'm a fan of "Best of" lists (Buffy fans can make them in their sleep!), and I was wondering what everyone's favorite episodes are? They can be character or team-specific, best crimes, best unsubs, best anything. Lists are fun. Share yours with me!
Thanks!

Date: Oct. 19th, 2010 08:32 pm (UTC)P.S. I'm getting into the H/P dynamic on the show, though my primary is M/R. And Minimal Loss is one of my favorites so far for lots of reasons.

Date: Oct. 19th, 2010 10:37 pm (UTC)10. "The Tribe". Hotch, looking hot, snarking with Blackwolf. Carrying a baton. Completely shallow reason, yes.
9. "Hopeless". The UnSubs were horrifically interesting, Bellick from Prison Break was the cop of the week, and it ended with my favorite trio power-walking to an excellent blues song.
8. "Identity". I feel that it's a better look at Rossi than "About Face" gives us, the UnSubs stuck with me (if they can do that, it's a good ep) and Hotch and Rossi doing the slashiest damn tag-team profiling ever make it a good one in my book.
7. "Slave of Duty". Oh god, I sobbed like a little kid. I refuse to watch "100" more than once, and so I can't include it on the list. But OH HOTCH HONEY. And the team, rallying around him and Jack. And Emily, being ruthless and kickass.
6. "Mayhem". It's all about Hotch's storyline and the Morgan&Garcia adorableness. A great, suspenseful episode, with a ton of character development. Plus, whoever directed it made some excellent cinematographic choices.
5. "Penelope". Because we finally got to see Garcia take the spotlight, and learn about her childhood. Because JJ's Boom Headshot through the FBI seal was freaking legendary. Because Morgan loves Garcia. Because David Bowie is God.
4. "Masterpiece". I adore Rossi, that's no secret. I love how this episode is structured, the killer giving us insight into himself, playing profiler with himself. And come on, Garcia and Rossi's Out Gambit is awesome.
3. "Demonology". Ohh, this episode. Emily Prentiss being a woman allowed to have an abortion on network television without being punished. Emily's relationship to faith, and how she goes to the other lapsed Catholic on the team, which is the last one you'd think she'd go to. My shippery is showing, but both Dave and Emily are excellent in this.
2. "Minimal Loss". A Reid episode I actually like. The cult is portrayed excellently, I love the echoes back to Waco and Ruby Ridge, Luke Perry is suitably creepy, and Hotch and Rossi flipping their shit at the local LEOs is always great. Plus, Emily Prentiss and her badassery is a big plus.
1. "Omnivore". Foyet's intro, in which they do their jobs building him up to be the biggest of Big Bads. I love the backstory, Hotch's connection and personalization with the case, but most of all, I do love Rossi chewing Hotch out for the overpersonalization. And the not-ending is creepy as hell.

Date: Oct. 19th, 2010 10:46 pm (UTC)I also find it interesting to see why other people love certain episodes, and how those explanations introduce me to what and who everyone loves on the show.
Thanks for contributing!

Date: Oct. 19th, 2010 11:29 pm (UTC)Then I have a lot of second-tier favorites: In Heat, Demonology, Pleasure Is My Business, JJ, Extreme Aggressor, North Mammon, Revelations, Lucky, Jones, and 52 Pickup.

Date: Oct. 20th, 2010 03:08 am (UTC)10 Exit Wounds- We see more of Garcia and it's just a beautiful setting.
9 The Fox- Intensely creepy.
8 Profiler, Profiled- This ep makes me sob every time I watch it and reaffirms why I love Morgan and everyone on the team.
7 Mosley Lane- Matthew bias. And Bud Cort bias. And Grimm's fairy tales bias.
6 Omnivore- This ep feels like a movie in its quality, and of course, enter the Reaper.
5 Aftermath- Three words. I miss Elle.
4 100- Is an explanation necessary? I weep like a babe when it's mentioned.
3 Normal- This was the first episode of CM I ever saw.
2 Pleasure is My Business- Not quite sure, other than Megan Kane is amazing.
1 Revelations- Um, latent sadistic tendencies and an unhealthy obsession with Reid?

Date: Oct. 20th, 2010 05:04 am (UTC)As for the list I've been meaning to sit down and compile a list but off the top of my head from episodes not mentioned above
No Way Out parts 1 and 2. Keith Carridine as Frank (and in my opinion a forerunner of Foyet) is equal parts appealing and almost demonic. Also, I think especially part two let's the Patinkin shine and shows off both Gideon's brilliance and his inner demons.
Reckoner: a very good Rossi episode. Seamlessly and a lovely hint into what could have been Rossi's not so clean path.
Unfinished Business: ...realizing there's a Gideon and Rossi centric vibe in my list thus far, I should include the other "old dog" episode. I really loved Max Ryan and wished they would have brought him back.
Conflicted: Jason Alexander (from Masterpiece) directs and Jackson Rathbone kicks ass/takes name.
The Wheel: This episode, not 100, is the only one to make me cry.
I'm sure there's at least a dozen more I can think of but that's a good start? Anyways Wilkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome!

Date: Oct. 20th, 2010 02:18 pm (UTC)I agree with you about The Wheel. It is one of the episodes that makes me cry, but not until I see Morgan's wrecked face! Oh, Morgan!
And I really like Conflicted (though I didn't Masterpiece much, honestly), but then again, I''m a Reid addict.
Thank for your list!

Date: Oct. 23rd, 2010 06:37 am (UTC)9. Elephant's Memory - Reid goes to NA and then takes the case personally. His confession to Morgan about high school is just heartbreaking.
8. The Pilot - Some of my favorite Elle lines.
7. Memoriam - Still love Reid going postal. Plus the scene with the hooker is great.
6. 100 - TG nailed this one. Pass the Costco size kleenex.
5. The Uncanny Valley - Reid forgives Gideon and cracks the case. And one of my favorite unsubs.
4. Profiler, Profiled. So sad. An excellent performance by Shemar Moore.
3. The Tribe - Full of excellent quotes. Who doesn't love Blackwolf?
2. Pleasure is My Business - Megan's trust in Hotch was so sad and so sweet.
1. LDSK - Possibly the best written episode ever. The final 10 minutes are pure awesome.

Date: Oct. 23rd, 2010 03:23 pm (UTC)You're the first to mention "The Uncanny Valley," which is probably one of my favorite episodes for many reasons, but mostly because it shows Reid able to move beyond the hurt of being abandoned by Gideon. It was a subtle and beautiful resolution to a hanging thread. Plus, I like chess.
Isn't "LDSK" the episode where Reid tells Hotch he kicks like a nine year-old girl? Favorite. Reid. Line. Ever.

Date: Oct. 24th, 2010 05:14 am (UTC)Mentioning Gideon once or twice a season always irritated me, except for this episode. I really wish they'd realize that MP isn't watching and doesn't care. (They certainly don't mention Elle once a season.)
Yes indeed. "I was aiming for his leg." and the returning of the whistle isn't bad either.
