Okay, I'm going to be fair to this actress. This isn't her fault, she didn't make the decision. CBS did. CBS, be honest, you hired her because she was cheaper than A.J. At least then you still look like an ass, but an honest one at least.

OMG, that would rock. IDK, I love that kind of dynamic, when an agent has some sort of connection with the serial killer and he's like this twisted dark angel figure and kill people for her and she's all angsty and it's so messed up and-

But wait. I have lost faith in the writers. I'm gonna lower my expectations now. She'll probaby get killed by the unsub, after having bonded with Emily, who will then have a nervous breakdown and leave the team.

To be fair, JJ wasn't *really* in the BAU either, and neither is Garcia. They're not profilers. And JJ was just a Special Agent, not an SSA. Garcia isn't even an agent at all. (Although I don't believe they were ever clear on this, but that's the vibe I get. I believe she works for the FBI in a consultant capacity.)

Not to say I don't miss JJ, but yeah... to have JJ's job, one does not need to actually join the BAU, as JJ said repeatedly that she wasn't a profiler herself (although she really was)...

At this point, I'm having an open mind about this, mainly because I was so disappointed in last season, but this season has been going pretty well so far... But we'll see. And I still miss JJ. :(

I will try to reserve judgment. I miss JJ. Painfully so. But there's also nothing we can do about her being gone. Hopefully new girl isn't an attempt at cheap!JJ or JJ 2.0.

New character or no, I'm still mainly pissed that they cut AJ for "financial reasons", then brought on a new character so quickly.

I've got nothing against her or the character. I'm just pissed at CBS.

Can't remember where it came from, but am pretty sure that I remember reading that the character is just in a few episodes.
The network wanted it to be a replacement for AJ/JJ but the show fought them on that.

Rachel Nichols was first apparently considered as the replacement for JJ, news which leaked the day 6x02 'JJ' aired. Hence why so many people are outraged about it. Because of the fan outrage, they brought her role back to just a recurring 3 episode arc, dixit the same article.

The news was brought in such poor taste (but didn't we already know that from CBS?) that many people hate on Nichols but really, there's nothing SHE could've done about firing AJ either.

So yeah, she's only there for 3 episodes. I'm wait-and-see, I think the premise is slightly ridiculous, but who knows, it might be well done.

I'm pissed. I love Rachel Nichols- yes, I also loved AJ and I was so frakking upset at what they did, but if they'd brought in an actress I liked, it would have made me feel better. But no! After raising my hopes, that it won't be a complete disaster, they then shoot the possibility of her being a regular down! Just to crush me. >:[

I don't know, my belief suspension for television is always on high, so I just assume everything's Strauss's fault until I'm told differently. I hope the actress won't be hurt by the all the backlash, but the fact that the casting people couldn't find anyone who looked more like AJ if they tried feels like the PTB are rubbing it in our noses. I'm sure the look-alike bit was unintentional but, really? In my headcannon JJ never left. And don't fight with each other, it's CBS's fault.

Holy crap on a cracker. People need to calm down. For one, this girl isn't even JJ's replacement. Geezus. For two, we all know (and have known for quite some time) that JJ's getting replaced. It's a done deal. All the *rage* in the world won't change that. AJ's already long gone. It may suck, but hey, welcome to life.

But yeah, judging this girl just because she looks like 10,000+ other hopefuls in Hollywood? And happens to have the same hair color as JJ? Ooookay then. Have fun with that.

And everyone with their "why would they let a cadet consult?!" Uh, why not? Seriously? In my understanding of the show, they never turn down help, no matter where it may come from. It's about catching the bad guys, not being in charge or showing their mad skillz (even though they do that). I mean, the girl is even in law enforcement. Come on. It's not like she's some hoodlum off the street or something. Sheesh.

Just keep calm and carry on, y'all.

I am admittedly a little nervous, but... She's only going to be around for a few-episode arc (or so I've heard?) so by the time we get used to her... she'll probably be gone. So I'm neither here nor there on her as a team member.

And so far, my only opinion of her is that she seems to have missed the memo on the team dressing in literally ALL BLACK for this episode. Although that may be attributed to her not yet being invited to the super-exclusive BAU outfit-picking parties that are usually held in Rossi's closet before work. Because he is a classy, classy man.
