I shall be different from everyone and cheer at seeing Rachel Nichols! ♥ I kind of hope she and Emily will get some good scenes together, I love both actresses, so that would be cool.

But if Reid starts flirting with her, I will smash someone's face in. I really hate the OOC-ness of girl-noticing!Reid. Like, wtf, the writers have made a big deal out of him being clueless when it comes to girls, so there better not be anything going on there. *eyes the writers*

The writers have been pretty adamant about Reid being interested in women though. Just because he's clueless doesn't mean that he's completely asexual or gay. He made out with Lila in a pool, flirted with Austin at the bar, checked out chicks in the train station this season ... I don't think girl-noticing!Reid is that out of the blue. Not to start a Reid-debate, I just hate all the Reid-is-noticing-women-therefore-I-shall-hate-this-woman stuff going on re: Rachel Nichols and her character.

If Reid gets some action, awesome. I'm dying to see the character develop this season. Part of what makes Reid so great is the progress he's made growing up these past six seasons, rounding out, becoming more confident and more assured of himself in the field and in his personal life. Anything the writers do to further that is good in my book.

Honestly, this. People are saying it's OOC of him to express interest in women, but he's come so far since season one, and I think it's just normal development. Are many of us the same person we were six years ago? Probably not. Reid was pretty fresh when he started with the BAU and he's seen and done A LOT of things since then. So I don't see him having a g/f (whether or not it's this Ashley chick) as being incredibly OOC either.

I play Reid in an RP and I have him in a relationship... I've questioned the OOCness of it, but I've rationalized it in the way that I mentioned up there. He approached the relationship in a very Reid way if I do say so myself.

Plus the man just needs to get some, my God. He's not a robot. (Although I bet he'd like to be.)

I've been looking for people to play WITH my Reid forever lol. It's been like pulling teeth. There are lots of Reids and lots of Garcias but other characters beyond that are scarce. Every time I see a muse I kind of jump on them. I've been working slowly but surely... got a Hotch apping to the place I'm at and a few others who've expressed interest. I might cry if I get a finally get a canonmate for him lol.

Until then, Kate Beckett from Castle is keeping him very busy. ;)

I'd argue that it could be seen either way. Just two years ago, during "Masterpiece" he completely ignores the cute girl trying to get his attention because he's arguing with Rossi. In "Pleasure is My Business," he could barely get the words out to the madam when asking her about client sexual proclivities. He also, despite being very kind and compassionate, has difficulty connecting emotionally with people, IMO.

Does this mean I think he doesn't notice or like girls? Of course not. I even think he's had sex, dates, and manages to flirt somewhat. But I find it hard to see him in a relationship. I also believe we all bring our own perceptions and wishes to how we view our characters on TV shows.

I'm more likely to think that if there is any Reid/Ashley flirting going on, it's going to be in the opposite direction lol. If Reid did have a thing for her, I think he'd just be kind of awk about it. She'd have to flirt with him in order for him to express any interest back IMO.

I dunno. It depends on whether I like her or not if I'm supportive of any type of Reid/Ashley plot.

Yeah, right, like if Ashley was interested and he was being all awkard about it, that would be all kinds of cute, if he wasn't sure how to handle it, lol. That'd be more in character for Reid, and I like not having a guy that's all smooth with the ladies and turning the charm on effortlessly, it makes him more endearing to me, lol.

I hope you like her! I'm a fan of the actress, so I've been looking forward to this. *fingers crossed*

I don't think they'd ever go so far as to turn him into Morgan haha. I think THAT would definitely be OOC. But him being adorable and potentially flirting back I can definitely see. I'd kind of be up for that plot because I LOVE Reid being sweetly awk around women, but again.. depends on how I feel about this character lol. We'll see.

PS - You just joined HiH, no? In Hufflepuff? I'm a Puff too. :D I was prefect last term but grad school has consumed my life this term lol. I'm on hiatus until around Christmas haha.

I personally hope that this new character won't become a romantic interest for Reid.
I have nothing against the actress, and nothing against the character (we have yet to met her and I'm more than willing to give her a chance), but this Ashley Seaver is still an FBI cadet.
Reid is not only a full-fledged FBI Agent but he's also an S.S.A. on top of that. Ethically this seems wrong.
And this might just be me, but I simply can't picture Reid with someone younger than him.
To tell you the truth I would prefer the writers to leave Reid's love life alone. Or maybe they could drop a subtle hint to let us know that he might be dating someone and leave the rest to our imagination.
