I've always thought the snippets of music played throughout the show were interesting choices. Sometimes they fit the unsub. Sometimes they fit the victim. And sometimes they fit the team, or some other part of the show. We've heard everything from Aretha Franklin to Nine Inch Nails, and Enya to the Rolling Stones.

What I'm wondering is:

Have you ever listened to a song and thought: "hey, that would be perfect for the show!"...?

If so, what song? 

Why do you think it would fit the show?

And in what way would the song be used?

Taking this one step further, if each member of the team had a theme song (including former members), what would their song be and why?

I think almost any song from The National's album "Boxer," especially "Fake Empire," would be a perfect fit for one of those melancholy episodes where everything goes wrong and the team's only consolation is that they caught the unsub and they are all safe and returning home.

Explosions in the Sky's "The Birth and Death of the Day" would make a great background to a scene where Rossi and Hotch are chasing someone through a building.

Heartless Bastards' "Searching for the Ghost" is what I imagine goes through Garcia's head when she is doing some hardcore hacking to find key information in a hurry.

Jeff Buckley's "Morning Theft" plays whenever Reid visits his mom.

"I Wish I Was the Moon" by Neko Case is totally Prentiss' song this season.

PJ Harvey's "Dear Darkness" would make for a great heavy dark Morgan-themed episode.

All I got off the top of my head. Most of them are sad songs, but I've only had one cup of coffee so far.

INORITE? Especially some episode that takes place in the dead of night and it's snowing and ten degrees outside and they're in some big city with aimless, hopeless people wandering around and...and... So perfectly melancholy. So glad you approve.

Oh man, "I Wish I Was The Moon" is gorgeous, although I admit my favourite Neko Case song is "Hold On, Hold On".

You absolutely right! That is a much better song for Prentiss (and my favorite from Fox Confessor). I knew I needed more coffee before I played this game. :)

I never saw Prentiss as a character I related to much (I relate to Reid a lot) - although I do love her as a character - but Hold On, Hold On reminds me a lot of myself (which is probably why it's my favourite), and now I can definitely see how it fits Prentiss... so maybe I have more in common with her than I thought.
