After reading [Poll #1670780]

Edit: Thanks to [info]gandolforf for pointing out than I can add more than one question to a poll. I am very embarrassed and I apologize in advance for the inconveniences.

I support anyone's right to have an opinion. That doesn't mean anything at all about the quality of the new show, and, to be honest, that's what matters most to me. I'm always in favor of entertaining TV, even if the cast think the networks were dicks about it.

Why are you grudge-wanking at me? I get it, you don't like the idea of the spin-off and think that the actors' opinions are be-all and end-all. I really don't take that sort of thing into consideration much in making decisions about what television I watch.

My opinion is that everyone's entitled to their opinions but that I'll give a show a whirl just to see how it is. The only people whose opinions of television quality I listen to are people whose taste I know and trust. And, no offense, you're not one of those people.

I saw the spin off and thought it stunk, and this was before I heard about the fu**ery they pulled on Aj and Paget. I had no intention of ever watching the spin off after how horrible it was. As much as I love the show I have a hard time continuing to watch the show this season with the mess they made of the team, and the horribly bad writing for Reid so far. In the first episode after AJ was dumped out they basically dismissed him and all he has acomplished in the BAU by announcing to, and in front of, "Not JJ", how he wasn't good at this and that and this, but they let him in to the BAU anyway. I also don't like "Not JJ", her character has no appeal to me or any chemistry with the rest of the cast. IMHO. Now it's "lets mess with Reid's head and give him another crisis".. UGHHHHHHHHHHH.......

All this. Alllllll of this. It irritated me so much that they had to knock down Reid's character as a way of "believably" introducing Ashley.

I am PISSED!!!, it's right back to "Poor Reid, the pathetic troubled kid Genius who God forbid we could show CAN take care of himself and give him a break and maybe a normal relationship like Garcia and JJ have and Hotch had...". Would it have killed them to expand on the little football game date with JJ?. Give him a real date with Lila or someone else?. Morgan dates, Emily seems to once in awhile. Bring Reid out of his shell a little more and let us see him HAPPY. I can't imagine a real FBI team existing this long with one member constantly seeming to have to be hovered over by the rest of the team. Focus on the cases, not "WE have to make them babysit Reid". Sheesh.. even in LDSK.. Reid makes a head shot, saving a whole bunch of people, and they make him say.."I was aiming for his leg"..WTF? GRRR.

I always thought the "I was aiming for his leg" was a joke on his part LOL.

My God, almost every other Reid fan is like I LOVE IT WHEN HE SUFFERSSSSSSS. I thought I was the only one who didn't. ♥ He's completely competent and has grown more competent over the seasons but it seems like ever since Gube's knee injury, he's been on the back burner. I can understand that, when the man's on crutches, but he's better now. Let him DO stuff. It's always him and Seaver hanging out at the office because it seems like Reid is going to ~hurt himself~. He's stronger than that.

I freely confess to being one of those addicted to his suffering (it's a kink in my character, and I know it)—but I want to see him dig himself out on his own. He does have that kind of agency—he killed Dowd, he killed Hankel, he pretty much tacitly told the BAU to go screw itself to intercede with Owen Savage, he was planning/prepared to run a secret investigation on his father on his own, etc. I don't mind his suffering, but I hate when his latent badassery gets lost in it.

NO :(. I hate Reid suffering and I DON"T like Reid slash in fanfic. I want Reid to finally "get the girl" and at least be a little happy. Maybe because I love him so much :)

like being a genius junkie isn't enough for Reid? *wink*

Everything you said and then some! I stopped watching. Even reruns. The whole JJ thing left a bad taste in my mouth and the writing has been so amateur, it's just not worth it. I hope one of the cast throws CBS a curve ball mid-season and I suspect from Gibson's comments, he might be the one.

It's sad but typical network nonsense when they want to kill a show...Hollywood being predictable as the tides!

I love watching the reruns, I just wish they would rerun ALL the episodes, not what just seem to be the same few. I can't stop watching as long as I have Paget and Matthew..it's gonna hit the fan though when Paget leaves after this season :(. I don't know if the rest of the cast will stay..

Sigh...I so agree with you. Last week's episode was actually the first one that was of ANY interest to me at all to even turn on the channel and watch.

I just don't understand the whole typical network nonsense thing. If they don't want to do the show anymore, any show, WHY can't they just give the fans a great last season and call it a day??? WHY do the networks screw the shows, screw the fans time and time again by doing ALL of the things they KNOW will drive the show straight into the ground.

This. The backdoor pilot (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PoorlyDisguisedPilot) remains the only episode of CM to date that I have not watched—and believe me, I tried. I might give the thing a try once it's had a few episodes to find itself, but I fear it'll only remind me of the weird stuff that's been plaguing the writing lately and leave a bad (worse?) taste in my mouth.

I watched the spinoff/crossover/whatever they call it and I was not impressed.

I miss JJ, and I'll be really fucking pissed if they get rid of or kill off Emily. I continued watching the show through Gideon's departure and Elle's departure, though, so I may still give it a chance as long as I have Reid. But it depends on what they do with Reid with regards to this headache thing he has going on.

Regardless of the reason for leaving, though, the reality is that they left. I still watched the show even though the characters changed. However, I like Emily and I like Rossi; I don't like the new girl very much.

Everybody has favourites. JJ and Prentiss were my two favourite characters, so of course I'm pissed about them leaving and am not going to watch anymore. Do you know how many people would tune out if Hotch or Reid left the show? It's not that we think "only JJ and Prentiss mattered", but many people feel that the team dynamic has been changed with the firings.

I totally agree with your last paragraph. I'm upset at JJ leaving, but I'm not going to give up on a show just because one actor/actress leaves. And a lot of the fans' attitude towards the show now is really starting to piss me off...it doesn't help that I actually like Ashley Seaver and want to talk about her, but can't due to fears about backlash from some of the other fans.

As for the spin-off, I'm definitely going to give it a try.

I agree about Seaver! It's funny because I totally hated the idea of her at first, and I still kind of make fun of her character and think she's unrealistic... HOWEVER, I do kind of like her. And Rachel Nichols is her own best PR person on Twitter, I gotta say. But I totally agree that it's super unpopular to like her.

ALTHOUGH, a few days ago there was a post here about someone starting a petition to remove her and they got so many negative comments about it that the post was deleted. So perhaps the atmosphere has shifted and it's now acceptable to say that you like her lol.

I'm...glad I missed that post, then. Otherwise I'd be really pissed at fandom right now. I was iffy about her character at first too, but once I saw her on-screen, I really liked her.

Friends, then? Since I'd really like someone to talk to about Ashley and another CM fan is always welcome. Oh, just to warn you, I ship her with someone.

I've also noticed the atmosphere has changed in the fandom since the news of JJ leaving broke. I wasn't around when Elle or Gideon left, so I'm not sure if the fan's reaction is the same or not, but I miss what it used to be like. Hopefully things will settle down soon.

*high fives you* I must admit that I stopped watching Caprica around episode 6-7 (staying up to midnight to see a new episode was a bit much for me), but yes, you may hug me. And we're also both Hawaii Five-0 fans. And House fans. And Star Trek TOS fans. YAY.

I'm still on the fence about shipping her with Reid, but I'm totally digging the Rossi/Seaver pairing. Possibly because I have a thing for mentor/protegee relationship, and those two do have a history with each other...see my journal for some fic, if you want.

Ha, our opinions about Elle and Gideon are reversed. I never cared too much for Elle, but I grew rather fond of Gideon, after a fashion. Which of course lead to me disliking Rossi at first, but I warmed up to him once he became less of a jerk.

I'm getting annoyed at how often the new shows I pick up end up cancelled. Ironically, I dropped V after the first four episodes, and it happened to get a second season. -_- I don't mind the new direction House is taking, although I'm not overly fond of Thirteen's replacement.

You definitely have a point. I'm just so disappointed that the show has become so.... disappointing lol for so many fans. I agree with you and [livejournal.com profile] moon_blitz that it's not very fun when it's a constant bitchfest. And that's not to say that people can't express their opinions (and I'm certainly know to partake in the bitchfest lol) but sometimes it's like... if all we do is complain about how shitty this is, why are we even bothering anymore? It's clearly not fun.

I'll be 100% honest, if Reid/MGG ever leaves the show or is given some kind of debilitating illness where he has to take a back seat, I'm done. He is the reason I watch the show, and I won't lie about it. I like all the other characters too, but without Reid, I'm not interested.

I will probably watch the first ep of the spinoff, but I wasn't impressed by what I saw in the conjoined episode. It really just reminds me of TNT's Dark Blue with even less memorable characters. It just doesn't grab my attention and doesn't seem entertaining in the least. And really, I like Forrest Whitaker, but every time I see him now, I place the blame for losing JJ onto him, even though he had no say in the matter. So I highly doubt I'll be watching the new one.

Although, randomly, I am glad they gave JJ a proper exit instead of some "professional woman with a baby" type of script.

It's not even a REAL spinoff! A real spinoff involves characters from the orginal show, going off and getting their own show. CM was arbitrarily chosen as a jump start for the show with completely, artificial ties made between two characters. ANY cop show could have served the purpose. There's NOTHING unique about the connection between shows. This is badly done manipulation and the Network is COUNTING on you being like a sheep and going along with it.

Well...I guess somebody's gotta watch the show. Happy grazing.

After the crossover episode in S5, I definitely wasn't going to watch it (I found the characters boring) - but after what they did to A.J. and Paget... well, let's just say they gave me another reason not to watch it.

I was incredibly unimpressed with the backdoor pilot episode, where not a single character interested me and two blatantly pissed me off (asshole!British!guy coming on to an obviously not interested Prentiss and the felon who wouldn't legally be allowed that close to a gun). I didn't plan to watch it at that point, and don't consider it canon. What they did to AJ and Paget just sealed the deal. Then again, the main reason I love this show is the family of the team, and the new show doesn't have that. There was no chemistry for those characters. But then again, I don't anticipate watching after Prentiss leaves. This season has been lackluster anyway. :/
