Date: Feb. 8th, 2007 03:12 am (UTC)I was actually yelling at my tv (well, Morgan, through my tv) "Just give the kid a hug, Morgan! You know you want to!" I kinda expected more reaction out of Gideon too. Prentiss didn't surprise me I guess, but - damn, I was wanting Morgan to really show Reid that bond they have. I love the Morgan/Reid friendship.

Date: Feb. 8th, 2007 03:37 am (UTC)Good lord! I'm jittery now! Bouncing in my chair and whatnot!
I turned away for a split second when he took the viles that I almost didn't believe what I saw. I had to call my grandmother and ask her if that's really what he took out of the guy's pocket. Oh, Reid...
I think... (I don't know what to think), but this could go two ways: 1) Reid took the viles to hide it from the team (as someone has pointed out already) or 2) (the one none of us want to believe) Reid will soon give into his forced addiction.
I have reason to believe it's #2 (my inner fangirl screams that this can't be happening), because in an interview Matthew says something about a rival of Reid's showing up in an episode. I think that this may just feed the druggie fire, plus I don't think they'd bring something like this (Reid taking the viles) up without following through with it.
... It all makes my stomach to flip-flops! Bad, Druggie!Spencer! Bad! DX

I really like how JJ said sorry to Reid and hugged him.
Oh yea season 1 of CM is loved. :D

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
absolutely amazing episode, but i'm so disappointed.
OH SO DISAPPOINTED
Something to consider:
Date: Feb. 8th, 2007 04:04 am (UTC)This is an empty revolver. (http://www.alphaprecisioninc.com/revolver/images/sight2.jpg)
This is a loaded one. (http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/485608/2/istockphoto_485608_loaded_revolver_pointed_at_viewer.jpg)
He would have known exactly when he had to cave, to save his life, or buy a little more time, because he would have seen the bullet advancing to the firing chamber. It wasn't an accident that he "gave in" just before the loaded chamber.

Date: Feb. 8th, 2007 04:11 am (UTC)Yes, it has been done, but has it ever really been done to character like Reid? Everyone is saying it's out of character but I don't agree. They said it was some form of herion (I'm sure I spelled that wrong XP ) right? And we all know how addictive herion is. Progressively, as the series has been evolving, Reid has had to deal with more and more. His guilt with his mother, the crimes in general, that serial killer boy who tried to kill himself, and let's not forget he's one of the only characters who shows any true remorse and regret about Elle's departure. The others have been slowly breaking apart too, and we can all say they haven't been the most receptive bunch.
If I remember correctly when Reid brought up Elle with Morgan he was very harsh, saying something like "It's not your fault Reid, she did it to herself," and said nothing about missing her, which is a very Morgan-esque action. Hotch has always been harsh with Reid and Gideon has been becoming more and more unstable, in my opinion, since the Fisher King and Elle's departure. Also, the look in Reid's eyes when he watched the couple get killed and Gideon's shout out was almost... dead looking.
I suppose my point is it makes sense to me, why it's in character, and I think this could be very interesting. The one thing I worry about is how the team will surprise. JJ clearly has PTSD and Garcia is well on her way their, not to mention Hotch and Gideon's slow decline since the Fisher King. It seems like something really, really big has to happen to break them out of this, or they're going to have to end the series on a tradegic note. Let's be honest, none of them right now are in a sound mental state and realistically should not be working as FBI agents until they are.

Date: Feb. 8th, 2007 04:53 am (UTC)I've never had a show I love break my favourite character so completely. That was the hardest hour I ever watched on television. (And usually I'm the sick one going, "pick so-and-so to torture, that gives them more screen time! mwahaha!") But with this...I've felt slightly sick since it ended.
I don't know what to think. I don't want them to give Reid a drug problem. There's so many other compelling things about his character...why invent something so tragic, when he's a tragic figure to begin with? Seriously. His mother's a schizophrenic that he had committed, he has serious autistic tendencies, and he's got no social skills. There's TONS there to work with. Why drugs man?
Basically...dudes, you broke him enough. *wibbles*

Date: Feb. 8th, 2007 04:57 am (UTC)I don't know. There's a lot to work with, but he's also, of the characters, the one whose backstory had probably been most depleted. Also, by making him the center of this episode, they had a really great starting for changing the other characters and exploring them. All the characters are attached to Reid. He's the kid, and they're protective of him. Making him the victim enhances the reactions you get from the rest, and makes it more likely to have a lasting effect on them.

Date: Feb. 8th, 2007 06:46 am (UTC)I really hope that Morgan saw him take the vials, or suspects something, because yes, after two days of heroin he is physically addicted and psychologically he just spent 48+ hours being told that the only way to escape the torture is the drugs, which, especially combined with the imbalances caused by a lack of food and little water, is going to take hold. His mind needs it as well. It WILL be an issue at the hospital, it will show up in the bloodwork and they saw him go into a drug-induced seizure, but as to beyond that, Hotch is far too observant for them to drag this out too far.
Morgan pissed me off a little. He cares far too deeply than he should, he gets mad and protective and all but he didn't touch Reid once they found him. That felt odd. All of the others did (except Prentiss, of course, and won't her backstory be interesting? Why is she a robot?) and I really thought Morgan would want to reach out. The two of them seem close.
Anyways, I love that Reid used his wits and not only survived but killed the guy, I don't think he was completely broken by this. Not now, anyways, but I think he will. Eventually. And one of the others is going to have to get their act together and be there for him.
*slaps team* Wake up! Man is not an island!!
Well, all that being said...POOR REID!!! SO NOT NICE TO MY BOY!!!!

Date: Feb. 8th, 2007 07:30 am (UTC)Reid was forced to relive some pretty painful childhood stuff, and yet he kept his brain about him and survived even though he was tortured pretty extensively, physically as well as such lovely psychological torment as choosing someone to live and someone to die and digging his own grave and watching a killer take over his son's mind. It was intense and I wept and hollered and my roommate even winced and yelled a couple of times. Not sure if I helped your dilemma any, but hey. As far as getting the ep, stay tuned.

Date: Feb. 8th, 2007 07:40 am (UTC)I had Dilaudid after my knee replacement surgery 2 years ago and it is really nice stuff. Note that I had it in a self-administration pump for, I think 3 days, with no addiction issues. Though, of course, I didn't cold turkey off it but went to less potent pain killers. Though I do have to admit that I was sad when they took it away.
