So, I am in need of some CM-fans help! Currently I am studying Criminology and Criminal Justice at a University, and we were just given the opportunity for an extra credit assignment. (GEE YAY!) We have to write a short paper explaining how crime control was used in our favorite movie or T.V. crime based show. I know there's been evidence of crime control in Criminal Minds, but I want specific episodes. Can anyone give me the name of an episode or two that I can draw some examples from after describing the show? It would be much appreciated!

Assuming that you're referring to the crime control model vs. due process model...

In 1x12, "What Fresh Hell?" Gideon pretty much breaks every search-and-seizure rule. (He breaks into a suspect's home without a warrant or probable cause.) Similarly, 1x17, "A Real Rain" comes down fairly critically on the system of due process--it cites a lot of examples of obviously guilty people being found not guilty for one reason or another. On the whole, though, I think Criminal Minds is pretty pro-due process, as cop shows go.
