Criminal Minds scoop, please! — Rosie
There’s much more to the story about Dr. Reid’s headaches…except you won’t find out until next season, according to EP Erica Messer. “That’s something that we’re talking to Matthew [Gray Gubler] about and the writers are all trying to figure out what stories we’ve dropped. Honestly, that storyline, that whole idea behind that, started before we lost A.J. [Cook] and Paget [Brewster]. There was a chance that we were fearing to lose Matthew just because of contract negotiations, and that storyline kind of got implanted and then never truly paid off in this season, but we want to sort of conclude that next season. That’s the plan.” Thank goodness the Gubler told me he’s all set for next season and exited about it. Can you imagine a Gube-less CM? Hells to the no! This team is magic!

Date: May. 7th, 2011 01:17 am (UTC)I think Gideon was written to constantly be on that edge. I definitely don't think you're looking into it too much.
I think Jack was Haley's breaking point. I honestly think she could deal with being on her own so much when it was just her, but once a baby came into the picture HER priorities shifted and she couldn't understand how his couldn't.
Yes yes yes yes YES. That is all I have to contribute to this. I agree.
idk, it really is a matter of interpretation. From what we've seen of Jessica Brooks (who I love, don't get me wrong), I can see her being annoyed enough with Hotch at this point to just hang up because she didn't want to talk to him. My dad does this sometimes when my mom's (very long-winded) sister calls and he answers before checking the caller ID. I can see Hotch interpreting this as Haley cheating, hence the "Are you really doing this" / "I can't believe you think I'm doing this" sort of look.
But yeah, you're not using it to bash her, so I will just agree to disagree on that one. ;)

Date: May. 7th, 2011 01:34 am (UTC)I don't think Gideon was a bad person mind you, but I agree he was very "me oriented". That's actually why I don't think he would have gone away and stayed away. I think his ego would have led him to keep tabs on the team, kind of a "can they REALLY get along without me?" kind of deal. Which isn't to say he didn't genuinely care for them, but I always got the sense that Gideon was the sort of person who could only relate to people as they related back to him. A kind of emotional tunnel vision so to speak. And I think with the Reaper deal he wouldn't have been able to resist drawing a parallel between Hotch and Foyet and him and Frank.
I think everything with Gideon came back to him in some way which is why I disagreed w/Emily (who I adored) when she was telling Reid to reconsider Gideon's letter. I saw him leaving the one person he knew would be the most affected by his absence with the responsibility of (at least initially) having to break the news that he was gone as kind of passive aggressive. He got to make his explanation/apology and Reid had no choice but to accept it and (seemingly) never got to respond or get his feelings out. I think Gideon gave the gift of a goodbye to himself, not to Spencer. Sure he gave him an explanation for his leaving but the way he gave it to him was an emotional molly wop. A Dear John letter is a Dear John letter no matter how valid the reasons behind the "break up" is. I never faulted Gideon for leaving b/c like I said, I always saw him as a wee bit unstable, but the way he chose to do it left me kind of disappointed in him.
Selfish Gideon?
Date: Nov. 8th, 2011 08:26 pm (UTC)I think Gideon was suicidal, but him killing himself at his cabin wouldn't fit as much as him running away, suicide was too final, and I think he'll know what suicide would do to the team - if he does kill himself LATER...
I srsly doubt that Gideon is having a happily ever after somewhere else at all, the way that Reid might have expected (especially when compared to his dad, which even then, turns out to be a long hours guy with a sick cat who keeps everything on Reid, it's possible that Reid got his memory from his dad as well, and sometimes, so much stuff just get overwhelming, his dad ran away and kept running away with the long hours thing).
Episode one, Gideon came back from medical leave, but he still wasn't alright, and then The Fisher King busted his compartmenized sense of safety, and then Frank perverted his list of happy ending reminders by using it to off them, and Sara. Gideon has ran away from the BAU - the place where he have to stay functional, it is fridge horror for me because I just know, if he is not contacting anyone at all (like off screen), then he's off somewhere, in a very bad way, even if he's remembering to eat, he's probably having nightmares every night, away from people who would understand.
