If I was a criminal, I'd be... checking under my bed for SSA Hotchner before I can sleep.

Hello all, I'm a little late to the party, having just found this site. I just spent some time this morning re-watching 100 and reading the comments in E-Bear's journal. Whew, it still gets to me.

And a strange comparison occurred to me... In the Lord of The Rings epic, Frodo actually fails in his quest - the burden of the Ring becomes too much for him - it would have for any mortal; he, and the quest, are saved only by the actions of his friends and even an enemy or two.

Not strictly on point, but you can see an echo of this when Hotch loses his (possibly lifelong) struggle to contain the monster that lives deep inside him; anyone would have, no one could have been expected to do otherwise - he was pushed far beyond any point of human endurance.

Anyway, glad to be here and looking forward to reading your thoughts.

I'd be... checking under my bead for SSA Hotchner before I can sleep.

THIS. Hotch: The crime-fighting lovechild of Batman and Chuck Norris.

Also, on the Frodo-Hotch comparison: I totally see it. It's a different kind of fall, of course, and our darling Hotch takes his brush with evil better than Frodo did (Hotch stays, after all; Frodo (rather like Gideon, I suppose) sails away to the Undying Lands to try and forget.), but I definitely see where you've come from with this.

And your icon is truth. For realzies. Where's the quote from? It sounds familiar.

Trouble rather the tiger in his lair than the sage among his books.

In other words: better check under the bed for a gawky dude who looks as though he's auditioning to be the Twelfth Doctor, too.

And a lot of meta seeps into the writing; I'm impressed by the way that the sixth season's Executive Meddling was duly incorporated into the storyline--and a case could be made that they even worked it into the Arthurian meta: we witnessed a bureaucratic Abduction of Guinevere, and the introduction of a character who could be construed as a False Guinevere (although I don't bear Ashley the ill-will that a lot of the fandom does.)

I'm also almost 6 years late to the party, the good part is that we have new episodes and great episodes yet to be seen.

I do see this comparison. The failed quest is almost always a theme I use in writing. so yeah glad there's someone else out there in that mindset.

Then again my comparison with Reid and Hotch is Illya and Napoleon.
