Hello all,

Name: [livejournal.com profile] love_toall

Age: 24

Location: Missouri, USA

Favorite TV Show: Ummmm, just one? That would have to be Supernatural. I you Castiel!!!

Other Shows Watched: Right now I'm into Sherlock, Teen Wolf, and Merlin

Favorite Quote: He who love touches walks not in darkness. - Plato

Favorite Color: Green

If I was a criminal, I'd be...a kleptomaniac. Except I'd only steal books, because I'm lame like that.

I'm fairly new to the Criminal Minds fandom. Now that I'm on summer break I've managed to streamline all six seasons in about a month and I'm really excited about the seventh season starting in the fall.

There's a problem which watching the it so fast though, somethings tend to blur together and I don't always remember everything.

So, I'm hoping you all can help me with something I can't quite remember.

Episode 6.12, "Corazon," was on TV today. It's the episode where Reid is having hallucinations and headaches. Do we ever find out why that's happening? I can't remember them ever talking about it in any other episodes.

I remember that Reid's Mom was schizophrenic and he was afriad he would get it too because it's genetic, but I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it.

If they did, could you all remind me what the cause was? And if they didn't tell us, does anyone have any theories?

They never actually explain the headaches. At the beginning of "Coda" (6.16) we see him leaving a cafe/bookstore with a copy of a book on migraines, and in (6.17) "Valhalla" he confesses to Prentiss that he's having them. In...6.19 -- "With Friends Like These" he admits them to Morgan. Beyond that, we've got nothing.

I pray to God that it isn't schizophrenia, because there's no way he could remain a part of the BAU; he'd have to have a not!evil!Hannibal Lecter-esque role, which has already been done in one of my other favorite crime dramas (Bones, wherein a supporting character who'd been on from the bginning and was one of my favorites turns out to be apprenticed to a cannibal and legitimately kills somebody, but guest stars in a couple of eps afterwards), and I got pissed off there. I get the feeling a lot of fangirls would quit watching if they couldn't get their weekly dose of Spencer Reid. I'm hoping it's a minor form of epilepsy, because I have epilepsy and that would just be cool, and it could be completely controlled by medication (like mine is) and therefore we can keep him.

*spoilers for S7, though extremely minor* Reid gets an arc this season, which, from previous experience, does Not Bode Well. *end spoilers*

Anyway, I remember things because I remember useless but interesting things and am way too invested emotionally in this series, so ignore me if you please.

And welcome to the comm! Nice quote, btw.

As much as I've come to love all the new ones replacing Zack, I hated that they did that. It also didn't make much sense to me. He was smart, sweet and worked solving murders. I don't see someone like that getting into what he did. It wouldn't make sense to me if they did something similar to Reid either. I'd most likely stop watching if Reid left the show.

I totally agree on every count here. When we got the teaser/summary for "Corazon" and everyone was running around like headless chickens, I had a "holy shit ZACK" moment, because my mind went like this:

~ Both characters had significant changes in hairstyle
~ Both were hugely beloved by me
~ I never saw it coming (despite all of the little "welp, it's genetic" moments for Reid) in either case.

I had to reassure myself repeatedly that there was no way CBS was dumb enough to start in on a schizophrenic!Reid storyline.

Maybe briefly, but then I think the Reid fangirls would quit once it was over, so any gain in viewership would be negated by the stream of fangirls sobbing.

And we've had plenty of those already with Reid. "Really Emotional Storylines Meant To Make Reid Lovers Cry" are, like, one of the backbones of the show; at least one has happened in almost every season since Season 2. S2 had Hankel and the drugs, S3 had "Elephant's Memory," S4 had the Instincts/Memoriam two-parter and "Conflicted," S5 belonged to Hotch, so it's understandable they went lite on the Reid angst, and S6 has "Corazon." S7 purports to be...something. I wait with baited breath and boxes of Kleenex.

Yep, and that doesn't even take into account the fact that he has major issues with the mistreatment of the mentally ill -- "The Uncanny Valley" is a wonderful depiction of that, where he tears the UnSub's father a new one because it's his fault she's abducting and more-or-less accidentally killing women. Wonderful scene; UnSub's father is played by Johnathan Frakes, so I could do next to nothing except lol over "'SURPRISE' said Riker as he boned young Wesley up the ass" connotation even though it was horribly distasteful and inappropriate.

And, immediately thereafter, he restores the innocent thing that had been all the UNSUB really wanted, while taking care to explain--in the presence of her surviving victims, an important detail--that he understood how Dr. Pedobear was the one ultimately to blame.

Both a Crowning Moment of Awesome and a Disturbing Moment of Warmth.

Huh, I didn't really realize the thing about the surviving victims -- I was too busy d'awwwing over the way Reid interacted with her.

And then, after that, Rossi comes over, and says, "Well done, Agent Reid." That's twofold, too -- wait, more like threefold -- because it shows Reid's development over the series (Gideon had always introduced him as Dr. Reid so people would take him seriously), it shows a subtle, quiet difference between Rossi and Gideon, and Reid admired Rossi so much in the beginning -- It's just a fantastic set of scenes, fantastic episode in general.

Another inspired touch: remember the dream sequence in which Bethany's limbs drop off, one by one, as she tries to crawl within reach of the phone? That may be an archetypal nightmare image, but it's also a very real and specific fear for a diabetic.

tbh, i can totally see them going that route if mgg decided to leave the show because he's made statements to the effect that he'd really love to play that type of storyline (and because, seriously, if you're going to send off a well-loved character and you've got an actor with the chops to pull it off well, why not do it with a bang?), but i really think tptb have more sense than to do it otherwise. (at least, i hope they do.)

If MGG ever decides to leave, I want Unsub!Reid. With references to Amanda, Nathan, and Hankel. I want it baaaaaaaaad.

ngl, as much as i know i'd end up sobbing and heartbroken, i'd definitely relish seeing reid go down that road if mgg left.

Yeah. And I guess that makes sense, but Zach? Really?

That it is; I received it as a gift from lindmere last may, so it's my default since it was the very first icon that got specially made for me.

Zach admitted later to Bones when she visited him in prison that he did not kill anyone. He was taking the rap for his "mentor."

Hi! First off, as a fellow SPN and Castiel fan, welcome. :)

Second, no we have not yet found out what was wrong with Reid. I think we know it is not schizophrenia, but other than that we know nothing.

This is normally called either a Bibliomanic or a Bibliokleptomaniac. If you're truly intrested in the subject I can give some amazing sources (and tales) to go read about this largely unknown disorder :)

Welcome!

Here's my question on it - and related to Corazon - did Reid have on the bracelet the rest of the season? I noticed he WAS wearing it in the doctor's office at the end of the episode, but didn't notice it later on.

Did anyone notice or will I just have to rewatch all the eps?

I just re-watched season six, and I did not see the bracelet in any other episodes. Only at the end of Corazon.
