What would their powers be?
Reid almost has one already; could one count his intelligence and speed-reading as a mutant power, or would they be amped up somehow? (Maybe he just has to touch a book and he knows what it says?)
Garcia: is she into computers because she can sense electrical energy?
Is Morgan a bomb expert because he's a firestarter?
Did Seaver survive her serial killer father because she has a healing factor?
Was Prentiss such a good undercover operative because she's a chameleon?
What about JJ, Hotch, Rossi, Gideon, Kevin, Will, Strauss? Discuss.

In theory, it could act as a dampener to his telepathy, allowing him to avoid the memories and thoughts that aren't always his. Yesssss.
I also love the way you put it for Em. I have a similar sort of thing, but of course less blatant. I blend in easily, as long as I don't talk much. I even kind of had a minor breakdown over the trait earlier this fall when I wondered what parts of my personality were actually mine, and not just mannerisms and traits were gleaned from the outside world. I totally see where you're going with this.

Date: Nov. 21st, 2011 10:54 pm (UTC)The Reid one was obvi, the hearing voices thing, and yeah, it would make sense how his mom went more crazy - if you work in a small office, you have a few friends, the majority of your hours is spend warding off a few familiar voices, maybe you'll have to run through crowds...but Diana's job would mean that she's on a campus, with young people trying to figure out a new identity for themselves! Lit students too!
Aaron has always strike me as someone afraid of his own strength.
I like superpowers that are subtle, JJ and Emily is definitely my favourite. I don't think Hotch needs to be able to punch through steel walls for his power to significantly influence his character - that he grew up with a father that beat children (those vulnerable to his greater strength) and that he can hurt someone if he's not careful, is enough for Hotch to raise himself with super self-control, which to me, is why Hotch is so awesome and so scary powerful, his self-control.
If you like that kind of stuff too, you should check out Demo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demo_(comics)) by Brian Wood & Becky Cloonan, about young people dealing with their powers. It ranges from a girl who can induce earthquake when she goes off her meds, to a soldier who NEVER missed a shot, to a young man who simply never forget anything that was said to him ever. The superpowers were all a /part/ of the stories, the earthquake one was about a girl's volatile relationship with her mother, her self control over her own condition versus meds, and the love of the boy she ran away with. The second one was about the choice of what to do with what you can do. The third was a love story, the boy never forget anything said to him, ever, and at the end of a volatile relationship, he will still and will always remember, the "I love you".
As for your problem, eh, I wouldn't worry about it, I turned my brain into twists trying to figure out what made me, me, it's fun to wonder about, but I wouldn't worry about it. You aren't doing any of the Macdonald Triads eh? No? You are fine.
