Okay, now I seriously doubt Reid is going blind, and I'm pretty sure I read they meet in a bookstore (so it won't be an online romance), so I'm gonna guess:

Maybe she's Islamic - which *really* interests me, and would definitely cover why it's apparently so controversial with the network. Though I guess maybe they could go with a "Phantom of the Opera" plot as well.

Any other ideas?

I know! While I can see it going to internet, I'm pretty sure the spoiler is they actually meet. Plus, i don't think Reid would be trolling the internet in order to be in a position to meet someone for the first time.

Maybe she had a face full of bandages, from an operation or something... Or a graft... But the idea of a Muslim girlfriend does seem controversial.

See now, I would think the operation idea would answer the "will she be pretty" question, but yeah, I could still see it happening. But then...we'd see her eventually right? And MGG is saying we might never see her. Argh! I WANT TO KNOW!!!!

Or maybe it's like that one actress who had acid thrown at her face. Pretty and not pretty. Hmm.

My first thought was that she might be a ghost, someone who died at least a hundred years ago, maybe in that same bookstore where they meet. But I’m pretty sure something like that has been done on TV before. Also, it would put Reid uncomfortably close to hallucinations and a potential schizophrenia storyline, which is not something I’m particularly interested in seeing.

While I think that the idea of a Muslim girlfriend is interesting, I’m not sure if anybody who’s deeply religious, no matter from what religion, would date Reid who is not a very religious man himself. (And I would, maybe falsely, associate wearing a niqab with being deeply religious.) Actually, I could better picture Morgan with a Muslim girlfriend once he decides to settle down and give up his player attitude for something serious.

Maybe she’s a burn victim and has to wear one of those plastic compression masks on her face to help with the healing.

Or maybe it’s just the Halloween episode.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

I can kinda see Reid with an Islamic girlfriend for two reasons: 1) I'm spoiled by TheKnittingLady's fabulous "One Safe Place" where an agnostic/atheist Reid falls for a (female) priest, and they get along famously; and 2) Middle Eastern (or Indian, as I kinda envision her) have some seriously top notch scientists. I went to GW, and the international community there was overwhelming.

Oh! Ding ding ding! That may very well have something to do with it! I forgot about that timing. I was seriously bummed last year when they forgot Reid's Halloween obsession.

Yeah, that story is awesome and worked very well for me, too. I totally forgot about that one because my RL experience has taught me that it’s often easier to bond (and get that bond accepted by the surrounding people) for religious people who are from different denominations or completely different religions than it is to bond between religious and non-religious people. Not saying that it’s completely impossible, just less likely in my personal experience.

Since I have met some deeply religious scientists myself, there’s less of a contradiction between science and religion in my opinion. I don’t see them as mutually exclusive. So yeah, maybe they could bond over science and agree to disagree about religious topics. Not saying it won’t work at all, just that I think it would be difficult. The writers would have to do some convincing to make such a relationship work for me.

Wasn’t it said that the girlfriend will be introduced in episode 4 or 5? Well, if the first episode airs by the end of September, math would put meeting the girlfriend sometime around Halloween. A shared love for that one would probably go a long way for Reid. ;)

Yeah, while personally I'm agnostic, I don't believe science and religion are necessarily contradictive. I think if I were religious, I'd believe science and math are simply God's work, only we're understanding the order.

Someone once said (either referring to neuro-sciences or astrophysics) something along the lines of “how can you look at all those miracles big and small, something so complex, and not believe in God”? While I don’t think science and religion have to go hand-in-hand, I can see that approach as a valid and not too uncommon option.
