Is Dr. Reid an addict?

If you remember from the Revelations episode, Dr. Reid was captured and injected with some sort of heavy drug (similar to heroin, I forget the name) and then at the end, he took some of the drugs with him. Well, did he ever do them? As I recall, he was about to in the following episode but was interrupted..so is he perfectly fine now? 
What are your thoughts on this?

The drug's name is Diluadid. I think I just misspelled that. *headdesk*

We haven't seen footage of him using the drugs of his own free will.

If you watch later episodes, there are hints that he is using the drugs, or at least going through withdrawl.

My thoughts are that he is using the drugs, but is not wanting to. It's an addiction, and he hates it. In the last episode, he compared arsonists to drug addicts. He looked at the team as he was saying the comparison. I think he's crying out for the team to help him get past his addiction.

Well, even though they didn't show him taking/using the drugs, I think he is on them and is addicted. Like, in the Jones episode, Ethan said:
And if I can tell? You're surrounded by some of the best minds in the world. If you think they don't notice… Well, for a genius, that's just dumb.
Hinting that he could tell he was on drugs. And then, at the end of that episode, his talk with Gideon made me feel like he wants to recover, by him saying that he's struggling, but that he'll never miss another plane again.
And in the latest episode, Ashes and Dust, when Reid compared an arsonist to a drug addict, he looked at the rest of the team in a weird way. I think he really needs help with his addiction (and wants it, too), but no one on the team will call him out on it and try to help him. At least not now anyway.

I think they've purposefully made this pretty vague.

They haven't shown Reid using the drugs he stole, so I'm willing to believe that he hasn't used them, and Reid's behaviour in the following episodes better matched a person going through withdrawal then someone still using, in my opinion at least. I'm basing this off of my experiences with my brother and his meth addiction, and I know people act differently coming off of different drugs.

So my thoughts are that Reid hasn't used, but he still wants to. In the last episode that I saw (the fire one, I can't remember the title), he was saying how fire was a pyromaniac's drug, and that addicts need help to stop. At that time he was looking directly at Gideon, and all that. His way of asking for help? I think so.

I want to know how they take this!

Yes, I think they've purposely made this vague as well.
Because I don't see why they wouldn't show us that he's using.
He's definitely got some conflicts going on in his head and now that people pointed that out, it reminds me of a few other little things that could be clues, I guess, but I just didn't pick up on at the time.

I sort of want him to do drugs, it would make the show even more juicy and dramatic. I like when we get to see his personal life :P

It's definitely the question on everyone's mind!

The first part of a series I'm writing on it is called "Detour" and is posted on bau_fic as well as on my LJ, and with a link at cm_squee if you want to read it. Chapter two should be up soon, will be called "Confluence".

Canonwise, though, I agree they've left it a little bit open, but with major hints (Jeff in New Orleans and Reid's comment about arson and addiction, for example) that he's still using some kind of heavy narcotic (he'd probably have run out of Dilaudid by now).

The writing and acting on this follow-up stuff on the show has been really exceptional. I keep my fingers crossed that they won't blow it by some very conventional resolution ep. :-)

So, I'm not the only person who noticed the arson/addiction thing. Something in his voice made me think he was asking for help, either with quitting, or with withdrawal. They've defintaly left it open though. It's very intresting.
