2.21: Doubt
2.22: Open Season.
2.23: Legacy.
2.24: No Way Out 2: The Evilution of Frank.

all these tidbits from [livejournal.com profile] shawngf (unless stated oterhwise) coz I'm too lazy to sum them up.

Doubt: It brings the BAU to a university campus in search of a serial killer who is murdering girls with brunette hair. This is a very good script. For as much as 2x20 rather bored me, this one is full of little character moments, especially for Reid, JJ and Prentiss. Morgan is, as usual, Prentiss's partner in the field. Gideon and Hotch are at the field office in charge of the interrogation of the unsub. A problem arises when a murder occurs while the suspect is in custody. They're forced to release him.

Now let me start with admitting that I *might* be reading too much into certain scenes because I want to see these kinds of emotions.

First up, JJ. I think she is finally starting to feel the weight of everything. A good part of what she does in the ep is counsel the victims friends and it's riding hard on her. There's a part where she and Reid are telling the dorm room that their friend has died and one of the girls blames them for it and both JJ and Reid are shaken by it. A bit later, after another murder, that same girl spits on JJ. Reid pulls JJ away from the scene and JJ blows it off, but the script makes it clear that she's shaken up by it. Another part has Morgan telling her that letting the suspect go because they don't have proof is the right thing to do and JJ tells him to "remind her of that the next time she has to tell someone their loved one is dead"(paraphrased). She really seems under stress in this one.

Reid- is still suffering the aftermath of REVELATIONS. Though again, I see no reason to suspect drug use, but I think much like JJ, things are affecting him a bit too deeply. Prentiss calls him on it a couple times and these exchanges are actually kind of nice. He's no longer snapping at her. He simply says that he doesn't want to be a puzzle for the team to figure out. Both he and JJ seem to really take this case personally.

Prentiss - as does she. At one point Gideon has Prentiss walk into the room with the unsub, just to see his reaction to a brunette. After Prentiss leaves, she's completely freaked out by it- says that now she knows what it's like to feel like someone wants you dead. Her scenes with Reid are very genuine, at least in the writing. She's not pushy. She brings it up and accepts it when he backs off, but when he brings it up, she listens. Oh and when she calls Garcia, our Tech Kitten answers the phone: What's up, home girl?

What I do find interesting however is that while Reid is being forced to deal with what happened to him in Georgia, JJ hasn't dealt a bit and in the scene when Prentiss asks Reid about it, JJ is right there and she exits to let them speak. Strange and I'm not sure what to make of it.

All in all, a very good and emotional script. We see the pain of what this man is doing through the ideas of friends and the BAU. It affects everyone. I think those are the best eps in the end.

Open Season: The hunters are two normal guys(I believe brothers), Paul and Johnny. Paul is by far the more sadistic of the two. He's been doing the humans as prey for awhile. The team has to stop the boys before the slaughter a a group of campers in Idaho. Looks like their weapon of choice is a bow and hunting arrows.

*The only good thing you can say about these boys is that their love for each other comes across clearly, even if it is a little warped in nature. The younger brother - Johnny - clearly adores Paul. Paul is using this to get his brother to do things(like kill), but there's a scene between them which I think will show genuine affection. I'm glad that's there. These boys are more evil to me because it's shown that they're very much capable of love.

*Prentiss, Garcia and JJ encounter BRAD - the wanna be FBI guy - in a bar. They thoroughly humiliate him.

*Some Garcia/Hotch goodness. These two crack me up. It's a completely different relationship from her one with Morgan- in some ways Hotch's jokiness with Garcia feels almost antithetical and yet in others, it humanizes him.

HOTCH: You're the man, Garcia.
GARCIA: No. You're the man.

*Reid again seems distracted, but the sides I have don't indicate as to whether this is case or drug related. It's hard to get a good handle on what's going on with them. There's part of a scene early on where it seems to me that he has issues with going into wooded areas, doesn't want to be out in the open field. Again, because it's only a piece of the scene I see, I can't be completely sure.

*Feels to me like JJ is going more and more in the field. Which I love. JJ still has her normal scenes though, including one fantastic one where she counsels a local sheriff on how to tell someone their loved one is dead. She ends up having to take over for him. I think it's a powerful scene.

*Morgan shoots another bad guy. This guy must have a belt with notches on it.

*The teams are: Gideon, Morgan, Prentiss in Idaho, in the field.
*Hotch, JJ, Reid at a police station in Spokane.

Legacy: It involves JJ and Hotch traveling to Kansas City to find out why a whole bunch of transients - 63 at least - have just vanished into thin air. When it becomes obvious that there's a case, the rest of the team is called in. Strong Hotch ep. Strong JJ ep. A great Morgan/Garcia scene. And Reid gets hit on by two prostitutes.

THE FINALE AKA THE EPISODE OF AWESOME.

CRIMINAL MINDS -- This time it's personal when Gideon's (Mandy Patinkin) girlfriend is murdered by his nemesis Frank, an elusive and prolific serial killer. Gideon takes off to hunt Frank without telling the BAU and the team must profile Gideon as a suspect in order to find them both. Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Keith Carradine reprises his role as the sadistic serial killer, and Golden Globe Award winner Amy Madigan ("Carnivale") returns as Jane, the small town outcast who is seduced by the madman.

Here are some details:

*Hotch profiles each member of the team (exciting!)

(1) Gideon is still with the team by the end (2) This is VERY much a team ep (3) This ep is largely about what the team has gone through in the past year- what happens to Gideon just forces everything into focus (4) The ep is told in flashback format with the framing mechanism being Hotch getting grilled by his superiors about the team(5) The last scene of the ep is a shocker. At least it was for me.

And WHAT a shocker!

The finale we are not going to post sides/more info because dude, it has to be a surprise. IT HAS TO.

If anyone have any questions go ahead and ask :)

A personal note: I'm loving how the show has changed so much. Now it's not about the cases alone, and about a team profiling. The way they slowly turned it into the relationship of a family working together and the introdution of JJ as a big part of the team really makes me happy.

Thanks for sharing!!! These sound great, it's a shame we have to wait a week to have a new ep. Gideon's gf dead? How?

Gideon needs to be given a break...poor guy.

Does the shock relate to something that has previously been touched on this season?

Does Reid's drug thing get solved this season? Or do we have to keep guessing until next season?
