New to fandom

While I have been watching Criminal Minds for years I have recently become interested in possibly looking into the fandom (specifically slash). With that in mind, I was hoping that I could get some help finding stories, archives and lj communities.
So my request is this: I would really love and appreciate your "must read/know" recs. What are the stories that are the "classics" of the fandom (and where can I find them).

I'm really not entirely sure what I like at this point, but slash is good (but not necessary) and Reid-centered stories would be awesome. I am also interested in Morgan/Reid stories, but but am not yet set on it, although I would prefer pairings that involve Reid.

Edit: also, I am on the hunt for an extremely illusive stargate/cm crossover that someone has a vague memory of possibly existing. No details. However, if anyone here happens to know of any, that would be fabulously, amazingly wonderful. (I just love the badass geek thing- Daniel and Reid should totally get together)

With all the talk of the spinoff's casting calls being kind of "suckish," I figured I'd gather some of the original character descriptions for Criminal Minds.


Hotch here:

Spec. Agent Aaron "Hotch" Hotchner - Mid 30s. All American. He is an FBI special agent, a loyal, God-fearing compassionate, family man who is respectful of authority. He's a nice guy, reluctant to pass judgement, but more than capable of doing what's required of him.
[ It was also mentioned in an interview that the "original Hotch" was supposed to be a tall, blonde Mormon.]

New fic/art challenges for Rossi & Prentiss fans

Many people may not be aware that we run semi-regular fic/art challenges at ssa_rossi (for fans of Dave Rossi) and cmrossiprentiss (for Rossi/Prentiss shippers). These challenges are open to any and all, and we'd love to have new people taking part.

For the rest of February and the beginning of March, we're running the following challenges:


Rossi/Prentiss 'Snowbound' Challenge
Just about every state in the US has seen snow over the past couple of weeks, and the area where Dave and Emily live have had record snowfalls. Let's put our winter frustrations to good use and write about Dave & Emily snowbound! Or if you're still loving winter, write about them enjoying being snowbound. What if the entire team gets snowbound and that causes them to find out about Dave & Emily's relationship? Go snow crazy! The SSA Rossi 'Cabin Fever' Challenge
Dave Rossi is a man of action. He doesn't like just sitting around doing nothing. So what happens when winter's been going on long enough that he's tired of being stuck indoors all the time? Or does he not experience cabin fever, but someone else on the team does? Maybe the whole team has cabin fever and Rossi has the remedy. Or maybe Rossi just really has a burning desire to own a hunting cabin somewhere off in the woods! Anything and everything 'cabin fever'ish having to do with our Davey is accepted.
