Oy damn. Safe to say that MP won't be on Ed's Christmas card list this year.

That said, I have two comments: (1) the show, for me, has NEVER been based around Gideon. It is a true ensemble and if anything, by the end of S2, Hotch(and while I like Hotch, he's hardly my fave character) had taken a centric role. A recent interview with AJ Cook seemed to suggest cast consensus on this. (2) I think(and hope) that Ed will be pleasantly surprised by how little defection there is.

I agree, I think it started Gideon centered because he was returning to the team and all that, but over the past season they've really branched out and included a lot more with the other characters. There was a lot more Reid this season, some insight into JJ, andof course I always love the fliration we see between Morgan and Garcia.

I like Gideon but unless they replace him with someone horrible I don't think I'll be all that bothered by it, I wouldn't even mind if they didn't replace him at all.

Wow. :/ I don't think the show was built around Gideon, for me, either. I watch mainly for JJ and Reid. If Matthew left I would probably stop watching. I don't think Mandy leaving will have a huge effect on the show. I'm not too worry. Just curious as to who the new character will be.

you know, since we first heard the tiny little rumors a little under a week ago, i was really bothered by it and wondered if mandy had been fired over something really stupid.

with more and more facts coming up, though, it's distressing because mandy's always been a favorite actor of mine. the fact that he really did abandon the cast and the producers (and the fans) like this is upsetting.

i feel bad for the rest of the cast and crew for the episode where mandy's scheduled to act. it sounds like it'll be extremely awkward.

not to mention that statement by thomas gibson, indicating that mandy patinkin had really given -no- sign that he was dissatisfied with the series; that's really irritating.

i hope that woman was right in suggesting that creative differences is a guise for personal issues - i'd be more forgiving in that case.

Also, to add to my comment, i never watched solely for gideon either. yes, he's a big part, but i have hope that the series will succeed. it's upsetting since s2 left us wondering about hotch (but really, if prentiss did that, i'm sure the series would be entirely unpopular. the twist, though, still happened).

i watch for for the entire cast, really. gideon's character was a centric role in that he had that whole history thing going on, plus despite hotch being a unit chief, he typically helped keep everyone in line.

i don't think that the show will be ruined - i've got hope for it, but it -will- be affected by this. i just hope the writers, who are obviously extremely talented, are able to pull it off.

I wonder if him leaving has something to do with the recent announcement that there is going to be a Dead Like Me movie.
