I'm sure the mod will be along with the official post, but until then, here is the discussion post for tonight's episode. Remember, comments might contain spoilers.
I thought the case was really good. I enjoyed the case part but... oh man I don't want to be a downer, lol. I was looking forward to this one scene and like half of it got cut. So yeah I was upset about that. But I liked the case.
And I really didn't like the Gideon thing in the cabin. I mean, come on, he was acting... eh. But I guess he has to. And what the heck was with the gun. :/
I don't care what anyone says, that was amazing. That is why this man has won awards for his performances, cause wow, God I will miss him so much on this show.
I liked this episode. Except Gideon was really annoying and I never liked him in te first place and I really wish we could have seen the actaual episode without Sarah appearing randomly.
Anyway, Reid's sweater!!!! EEEEEEE!!!! I loved it!! And when that girl spat on JJ and Reid was like "oh no you didn't, bitch" Yay!!
That evil lady at the end. I want to kill her so badly. Why can't she see that Hotch is the greatest thing tha ever happened to the FBI (that isn't Reid) and she should make him into the director of the FBI if he wants?

Actually, she probably can. That's why she's trying to axe him -- eliminating potential competition while he's still her subordinate.
I don't really have any strong feelings about Gideon. Honestly, I have Season One on DVD and I can't wait to get Season Two, but the show isn't about Mandy Patinkin or Jason Gideon, despite what all the reviewers seem to be saying. CM is a great show with a strong ensemble cast and some really tight (and disturbing) stories. Gideon may be the father of the group, but I really don't feel like he's the core.
And as far as the story lines go, I'm not a big fan of the suicide idea, but the prospect that someone who always came off as calm and cool and Gideon would finally be destroyed by a job that the writers have made of point of telling us will get to you...well, that's a little exciting for me. I'm really fond of Reid, and, frankly, the most disturbing part for me is the fact that it looks like Spence in the one going to find him.
I don't want Gideon to kill himself, it doesn't seem like something he would do...but then again, he doesn't have anything left that's away from his job (the cabin was taken away at the end of season 1). And I don't want Reid to find him, he's already been through so much and I think he has a lot more to go through, and I don't want him to find his mentor dead. It isn't fair.
I agree with you that Gideon is not the core of the show. I love Gideon, I really do, but this show is about a team. It's not the same as if, say, they wrote Meredith Grey out of GREY'S Anatomy, for example.
I will miss Gideon, but I love the entire team (even Prentiss, which is a shock to me after my initial feelings). I loved Elle and I survived when she left.
Really, I found the whole thing choppy. I know why it was choppy, but still, not the greatest way to start the season. I'm pretty sure it's going to be Reid that finds him too.
This is the episode they pulled after the Virginia Tech shootings last year. I think they had Mandy do the letter writing scene and filmed it, inserting it to use as a preview for next week's actual original "season premiere."
My thoughts exactly. It screws things up enough in a regular job when someone just up and quits with no notice, I cannot imagine what it must to do such a tightly-interlinked industry like television.
The episode was alright, but it felt sorta like they just took two totally different stories and mooshed them together. Was this the 'school shooting' story line they cut last line up remixed? The episode was...weird. Like it was from some different show. The suicide implications are sort of making me nervous eeeee inside, because I think it's actually going to be worse if he DOESN'T kill himself. So say he shoots himself in the head. There's still a trick to it, cause a handful (I can't remember the exact statistics--ask Reid(incrediblyinappropriate!LOL)) of the guys that shoot themselves in the heads wind up vegetable for the rest of their lives, which is almost scarier. Or if Reid (I'm going with Reid cause that's who it looks like is going to be) DOES manage to stop him from doing so, that's still no good cause it means he's all broken inside still, which is almost WORSE then him just dying. It's kinda almost funny how the previews are causing more ruckus then the actual episode.
I think Mandy is a great actor. But since this is the second time he's bailed on a tv show, it's not a huge surprise to me that this happened.
It doesn't seem like to me that Gideon is the core of this show. that it truly is an ensemble, and I think everyone should give it a chance after he's gone. I can't imagine watching this type of show for one person...since no one gets a HUGE amount of screen time.
This episode was very choppy, and knowing what happened explains why it is. I think the first few episodes are going to have problems since they had such short notice.
Hopefully the fandom will pull together and keep giving this show the opportunity to prove itself once again. It would be a shame for one actor / character to be the downfall of a good ensemble show.
Ugh, Im not even going to get into the whole Mandy thing. Overall the episode was pretty good. Not as good as last season's closing episodes, but good none the less. One question though, whats the name of the song that was playing when the girl got into Mr. Creepy's, aka Tubbs' car
Just saw the ep. Personally, I thought the episode overall was pretty good :) And well, the writers did what they could with the Gideon storyline, what else were they suppossed to do? Idk, I´m gonna miss Gideon but Im glad the show is back.
Not gonna get into any Mandy discussion. I love Gideon, but I love the show a whole lot more.
But ahh! It's so great to have Criminal Minds back. I've really missed it. I don't care if the episode was a bit choppy, it's understandable considering what has happened.
The episode as pretty good. But, by the middle of it i was wondering why every girl on campus hadn't died their hair. Also i wasn't very into the Gideon story line. Or the case storyline for that matter. Mandy is a good actor, but this time he didn't do a very good job.
Also the suicide idea is bad bad bad and i'm hoping they just have him leave his gun on a table next to his badge. I don't think Gideon would go suicidal. It's just not him. He's depressed, but i don't think he'd go to that kind of extreme. And i don't think he'd let Reid see him like that. He'd know it would destroy him.
Emily didn't tell Madame Strauss what she wanted, and i think that's good. She might be the newest on the team, but she is part of the team.
I think the real season premiere will be next week.
